I couldn't find an active colour laser printer offer so decided to venture for one myself. I stumbled on this offer as it seems pretty legit as other sites are still selling for £130ish (MISCO)

Please can anyone let me know if this is also a good printer and if theres any cheap replacements

What the heck have I just done? Spent ages typing out a reply and must have hit a short cut to closing the tab. Here goes again.

Seems a decent printer for the money. At first glance the problem obviously lies with replacement toner, so much so, that in our school we have 'binned' several colour lasers with the same problem. £75 for a colour laser - brilliant!. Replacement toner in the region of - £236/£253 oO OMG! There must be someone, somewhere, that can supply for less than half of that surely? (Ha, di, ha, before anyone dives in with "stop calling me Shirley"). Are there more than 1 of these available? If replacement toner at a decent price can't be had, it might be an idea to buy 2 or 3 at this price - they can then be cannibalised for parts/toner.

In our school we were restricted as to who we could buy from, whereas you aren't, so there may be a way a cheaper toner, but we binned several Konica Magicolor 1600W printers for this very reason - the toners were twice the price of buying another printer.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Before you go with this idea check out the yield/capacity of the toner supplied. It's quite common for the supplied toner to be half or even a quarter full in comparison to buying a replacement toner.

I've ordered the wireless HP one

I have an a3 HP inkjet printer that I can't find a CD for and its quiet old so the website doesnt have drivers for it. What Do I do?

Nah, keep it for next time Dell have a trade-in promotion

I bought this Dell printer to replace an unreliable Epson inkjet. Compatible toner is around £28 a set.
The deal says expired but it's still £150

It seems that the one thing this printer has (in this price range) that's missing from others is Full/Auto Duplex.

Otherwise, replacement toner refills+chips (not cartridges) are £61/set on ebay.
Colour reproduction is "just below par" for a laser-LED, according to PCmag.
Getting it to work with Linux/Android appear to be a pain in the .... or impossible.

But then it has Auto Duplex!

Then there is the SPC240SF on ebay for £175, which seems to be the multifunction version of this printer.

And I still can't decide

I was thinking about a laser but the cost of toner put me off, so went for an Epson BX935FWD, Full Duplex, scanner, Wifi etc. Best part is you can use aftermarket cartridges, I paid about £12 for 16 (4 of each colour) and they seem to last quite a while. Stocked up so I've got enough for the life of the printer.

Its a HP Deskjet 9800. already bought XL replacement cartridges for £10. just need the software and HP don't have it

Picked mine up yesterday.
It's a bit noisy warming up, but print quality is okay (for a laser).
I don't think it does borderless printing - I can't find an option to do so anyway. Though worst of all is that I can't find any Linux (ubuntu) drivers. I emailed Ricoh support, who say this printer is not compatible with Linux

Can you not dual boot to xp? Most laser printers are noisy. I bought the hp laserjet offer and man is that noisy. I dare not use it if the wife is sleeping as I set it up in my bedroom for now to keep away from the kids.
