In this electrifying autobiography, Rik stands naked in front of his vast legions of fans and disciples and invites them to take communion with the blood he has spilled for them during his thirty year war on show business.

He invented alternative comedy with The Young Ones, he brought down the Thatcher administration with The New Statesman and he changed the face of global culture with his masterpiece Bottom. Not only was his number one single Living Doll the saviour of rock 'n' roll but he also rescued the British film industry with the vast revenues created by his legendary movie Drop Dead Fred. In 1998, he survived an assassination attempt and spent five days in a coma before he literally came back from the dead. Having completed countless phenomenal feature films, TV series, live extravaganzas and radio voice-overs since then, Rik Mayall is now poised on the brink of a whole new epoch-shattering revolution.

For the first time ever, Rik reveals in print the deep inner truth behind his gargantuan ascent to the pinnacle of international light entertainment – the mental hospitals he has broken out of, the television executives he has assaulted, the drugs he has definitely not taken, the charities he has bankrupted, the countless pregnancies he has engendered, and so much more.

heat for the legend. RIP

Cheers OP.

Heat.

brilliant price, will grab this. a legend gone far too soon.

When Rik did book-signings for this book he usually posed with fans doing the Hitler salute (have a picture of my two step-brothers, one of whom was about 11 years old!! doing said pose)

Was shocked for days when he died.

Not sure how good the book itself is though, even though Rik is a legend - it got quite a thrashing my critics when it was released - which is why I don't have a copy.

The best spoof biography, of course, is "I, Alan Partridge We Need To Talk About Alan", especially the audiobook - Rik a missed a trick there. Ha, that rhymes.

I, Partridge is the audiobook equivalent of Spinal Tap, though it could only ever work with that voice the same way that film could only ever work with that divine cast. A shame that Rik Mayall has gone, I'd have paid a small fortune to hear one for Richie from Bottom with Mayall in full ego mode. Or Lord Flash heart

Bought this at Newcastle airport several years ago for a flight somewhere. Rome I think. (Been around for couple of years before Rik died I think) great fun. Not a classic or something you'd keep going back to, but an enjoyable read

I tried to read this a while ago and gave up after a few chapters. it's written just as I imagine he spoke, so it's a funny but difficult read

just got a £1 credit from amazon as well
