Sorry, this product is currently unavailable.

Can anybody recommend a good, comfortable chair for prolonged sitting at a desk? I'm moving house in a couple of days and hae a nice new desk, but could do with a comfy chair to go with it! Most of the time is spent working, not playing games or anything, so need something that's not too "casual".

I've got one of these

I've hunted for ages for a decent chair (using a Viking Berlin/Niceday chair that's on its last legs). I went for ebay item number 321767291865 - listed it as a Deal but it was pulled, even though it comes from the UK, apparently this is from a Chinese seller (woops). Comes in red, black, blue - other sellers have it in orange as well. Downside is it costs a few £ more than this two chair Deal alone!

All the other cheap seats I saw on ebay had rotten reviews on Amazon. The one above has lots of good reviews. I'm tall and need a higher back, I prefer padded arm rests and the durability of leather (though this is PU) versus fabric seats, and I wanted the chair to be comfortable for prolonged periods. This also allows you to raise or lower the arm rests to get closer to your desk, which I like.

Yet to build mine but planning on doing it tonight.

Thank you! As above, please let us know what you think once you have it assembled. The reviews look very promising, and props to find it cheaper at eBay!

I'll likely place an order for one of these when pay day comes around :), so thanks a lot, very much appreciated!

ahahah, the same crap type they sell at around £29 at staples and that is when it is not on a sell. They wanna force you to buy 2, lol

Pleased, got my brother to give me a hand, it was fiddly getting it into position.

All chairs feel comfy when you first build them, so guess time will tell. Puzzled by Amazon reviewers' moans about the castors - they are fine - using the chair on laminated flooring. One reviewer did say they aren't meant to be used on carpet (?).

The chairs are back in stock. Checked at 9:46 PM today.

Still available, just got 2 for £45.50 with a coupon.

How the hell has this piece of junk got 4.5 stars? Are people leaving reviews based on 2 days of use before realising their mistake 6 weeks later when the chair falls apart?

Such an informative review right there. Do you have one? If so please provide a review for the rest of us thinking of buying it, if not don't judge it from bad experience of a different chair.

None of the reviews on the item say the chair falls apart (at least none I can see), but there is a three star review suggesting it gets uncomfortable after an hour or so sitting.

Do you have one? Or do you just have shares in Tesco?

Neither, just saying a lot of people who actually bought the item like it. I am considering it but you have put doubts out there. I want to know how you formed this quite obviously justified opinion, or do you have shares in one of the other supermarkets?

That was a terribly original burn you just gave me.

Fab find, op - heat.

Surprising that you think that, it was never meant to be original, nor a burn, it was meant to be sarcasm. Still, difficult to understand how something typed was intended as sarcasm, oh wait, I see what you did there.

Anyway, back to being serious. I am interested if you have owned one of these for a while and can enlighten us to how it fares as like others here I am considering it. You said it falls apart, could you elaborate on that please?

I had one. They lean back and was quite comfortable. However if you lean back too much/often the back breaks off after a few weeks. Sent me tumbling backwards.

That is useful to know. I have had a very cheap one break before and it was painful. I don't lean back on these now as a result, however I do sometimes stretch in my chair which puts pressure on the back. Did it generally feel ok with shorter periods of pressure on the back but feel like it was 'giving' when leaning for longer periods or did it just suddenly give way on you with no warning?

This chair looks so poor.. I don't why you'd want 2!

Google 'ikea markus' probably the best budget office chair you can buy from loads of reviews + free 10 year warranty.

It's not ergonomic at all, that 'lumbar support' on it is absolutely worthless. Far too relaxed for an office chair IMO. OK for sitting back and playing console games or watching motives but I can't see how you can possibly sit upright in it for typing, etc!

This one provides much more for the same price:

(Not about the Riley, but about Ikea Markus/mesh office chairs)

I did see a clone of the Ikea Markus (that places like Rymans sell) here: ebay.co.uk/itm…757 £32.99 from the UK. Most people seem to like it amazon.co.uk/pro…-21

And I did consider this as well at £30.98 in brown (other colours more expensive elsewhere) ebay.co.uk/itm…180 this one had rotten reviews on Amazon though.

The mesh chairs look great but I don't know how durable or comfortable they are, so went for similar chair that I was used to.

I used to buy Argos office chairs, probably got through 4 a year (under their warranty). I've now had a proper (Herman Miller) chair for a few years - ridiculous bargain (paid a fiver, although admittedly it's a 1990s model).

I imagine the chair will outlast me, and I'll never waste money on a 'disposable' office chair again. You'd be much better off scouring local ads or local businesses to see if they are chucking out office chairs than pay for these unreliable look-a-likes - especially if you are on the plump side like me

Not voting either way as these may well be fine for light users, or people with a less substantial build

I did scour Gumtree and ebay for Herman Miller and Steelcase chairs, much more than a fiver though, even refurbished. I don't mind buying "blind" if it's only a few £. More expensive chairs, I don't want to take the gamble.

You may get away with it then. I liked to recline on it but I didn't force it in any direction it wasn't meant to go. Why make a chair that leans back and then breaks when you do?

As stated in some reviews, this chair doesn't recline, so your comments are regarding a different chair.

Picked up today and cant complain for £24.50 each feels strong and well made and is not uncomfortable to sit on Bargain! Thanks for posting.
