7pc Kit Includes:

1 x Base Station
The BaseStation is the brains behind it all - keeping your Ring Alarm online and connected to your devices. If your power or WiFi goes out, you'll still have 24 hours protection with battery backup and the optional Cellular backups. Mains powered, with a rechargeable 24-hour backup battery included, the system connects to your internet through WiFi or Ethernet.

2 x Contact Sensor
Mount the contact sensors to doors or window frames to know when they're open. Powered by a 3V Lithium Battery with 3-year battery life.

2 x Motion Detector
Mount to room corners or flat walls to detect motion inside your home. The system is smart enough and designed to ignore pets weighing under 50lb when mounted at seven ft. Powered by a 3V Lithium Battery with a 3-year battery life.

1 x Keypad
The Keypad allows you to control your home from inside, with battery-powered simplicity. Mount it to any flat wall, or keep it as a portable keypad. You can add more for easier access. Control security modes - "Disarmed" deactivates your sensors and allows you to move freely within the house. Set the mode to "Away" to activate all sensors to protect your home while you're at work or on holiday. Or, activate select senors with the "Home" setting, giving you the flexibility of protecting the downstairs, while you work upstairs.

1 x Range Extender
Extend the signal from your Ring Base Station to other Ring alarm components, ensuring your security coverage is strong and clear. The Range Extender plugs into a standard wall socket, with a rechargeable 24-hour backup battery included and utilises Z-Wave technology, providing coverage of 250-foot range to the Base Station.

£239 on Amazon but you get a free internal camera.
But you get a free £50 stickup camera from Amazon
Does this have SIM backup and if so can it be used without a subscription plan (i.e. can it be used as PAYG)?

Ring have just announced a new alarm and sensors. …Ring have just announced a new alarm and sensors. https://www.theverge.com/2020/4/9/21215231/ring-alarm-second-generation-update-preorder-features-emergency

Have they confirmed availability in uk though? There’s a discrepancy between what they sell stateside and over here, the ring dome and carbon monoxide sensors for example.
Anyone know the battery life for these parts? As I’m sceptical about getting a battery powered system.
Can't see new model
Coming to U.K. any time soon. Plus it release in USA ages before U.K. also we still haven't got the new lights this side of the pond. Can't see any major differences with the new model over the current one apart from looks. I purchased the 10 piece kit a few months ago. And it's amazing plus my home insurance has dropped which almost paid for it due to assisted monitoring. I already have a few cameras so pay for subscription so this is a great addition. Keypad has been charged once and on 97% 2 months in. Base station lasts min 24hrs on battery if you have a powercut.
The v2 alarm in the US has 'panic buttons' to automatically connect to Emergency services. That's because Ring in the US are able to offer professional monitoring, which they don't in the UK. I believe Ring said the the 3 buttons used for this functionality in the US will be relabelled in the UK and used to more quickly switch on/off the 3 modes (Home, Away and Disarmed). Pretty pointless if you ask me, but if it leads to discounts on this model then go ahead and buy this one. I have it and I'm not worried about it being out of date any time soon. v2 will offer smaller sensors (the ones on v1 aren't huge anyway) and the v2 keypad looks a lot bigger than the one on v1.

Re: SIM connectivity, there IS a SIM inside the base station to provide cellular backup in the event of WiFi failure. But, if you remove the SIM, chances are you'll brick the unit. I'm quite critical of Ring on a lot of things (despite really liking their products) but one thing they've done right in the UK is working with all the mobile providers to make sure the SIM in the base station works with the strongest signal in your area - meaning you're never without connectivity. In the US, they're tied to 1 provider and if your area doesn't have a particularly strong signal, you're pretty much left without.
Also it's a bit cheaper if you can get to a warehouse.
Good deal.

Wasn't that the normal 5 piece kit?
This is a 7 piece.
It has an extra motion sensor and contact sensor.

I believe someone ask this of the 'CTRL+C, CTRL+V' crew who run Ring's Twitter account and the response was along the lines of 'an indoor cam is designed to complement the Ring alarm and whilst it cannot be used as a motion detector, you will receive notifications if the indoor cam detects motion and, from the Ring app dashboard, can trigger the Alarm's internal siren manually'.

Thanks very much mate couldn’t really find much out about it. That’s a little disappointing that they won’t allow their cameras which have motion detection built in activate the alarm if it detects motion! Appreciate the reply. Thanks

Worse still is their reluctance or inability to make a triggered alarm sound the sirens on their floodlight and spotlight cams. They don't offer an external siren, but products they sell for external installation have sirens and can't be linked to the alarm?! Seriously?!

Like I say, I love Ring products, but some of their decisions are baffling and their social media may as well be ran by Bots.

That’s doesn’t make any sense at all! The whole point is it’s all linked in together!
One of the biggest frustrations with ring is that when the internal alarm is ringing it doesn’t automatically set off the siren on external cameras.
I have purchased a Simplisafe system which turned out to be cheaper upfront. It's a great bit of kit, however I feel is very limited unless you pay the top tier monitoring of £20 a month. No integration with Alexa on the free or mid tier plan, and if an alarm is triggered you don't even get a push notification on your phone (you only get that if motion is detected in your indoor cameras). On this basis I am hesitant to keep Simplisafe and considering moving across to Ring. Has Ring done anything to improve on their privacy and security features recently? Anybody who has been on a similar situation could offer some advice?

yeah it does/ just checked and all my sensors are full power and the keypad is about 60%.
The bundle sold on amazon with the indoor cam (kindly linked by a user above) is showing at £338. Has it gone up or am i looking in the wrong place?
I got one recently. Decent kit. One thing i must say is that the door sensors are quite weak and break easily. Currently on the monthly trial and when alarm goes off you get a call straight away. If electric or wifi goes off it runs on battery and 3g. The alarm is very loud i must say. Good piece of kit

Is it just me of its showing as £338?
Pity this can't be wired

Can anyone recommend a smart alarm that can be wired. Preferably with out subsection (alerts to key holders are fine). Even better one that willl work with existing wired dumb sensors (PIR/Door).

I believe Ring's security issues were due to users not enabling 2 factor authentication and having passwords like Password1 and Qwerty123. I don't think it was Ring that was hacked, moreso user accounts breached due to complacency of the owners.
Looks like a Duplo kit set

Amazon have stopped sending prices to that site during the current virus outbreak. I think it says something about this at the top of the camel site. Or I may have read this on pricespy but it applies to all price tracking sites...
