I'll save people some effort who only read the headline... their camera wasn't hacked, somebody used their login details after they were leaked by another website. The owners also hadn't enabled Two-Factor Authentication. It's hacking in the same way that using a copy of your front door key is hacking. By which I mean it isn't.
I like the idea of these, but literally the only visitor I get is the postman so I can t see the need.
Almost as good as the £112 Curry's deal. I ended up selling the ring Pro for £130 and got a free show 5 which I then sold for £60 and bought a show 8

Heat! The Black Friday deal was with the dot for £119, now with echo show 5 it is only £10 more. The echo show 5 itself costs at least £25 more compared to the echo dot.

Surely they must be better than the V2.
The battery housing etc is inside the house and so closer to the wifi. Also these don’t have the risk of being stolen. Just drill a hole through your door and fit.

Where you sell them please?

Particularly the Echo Show 5…
I bought the Door Cam for £120, so just putting in to return and buying this as £10 for a Echo 5
Wifi is an issue but otherwise works superb and a doddle to fit
A great find, I did think it was the pro version though, I was very excited. A cracking deal still

Fab deal! Missed the Ring doorbell during black Friday - doubt it would have been as good as this. Thank you sooo much 😁

It seems a little odd to me that they had a Ring camera in a child's bedroom!?

And to be fair, they never had two factor authentication activated.

I am not saying this excuses the weirdo who did this, but we can all do more to protect ourselves.

Thats not the reason why I posted the link, it’s important that you follow best practices when purchasing a wireless device. Two factor authentication is one good start but I bet that not everyone knows what that actually is so to be aware of some risk if not following best practices is crucial if you ask me.

What’s the difference with this & the pro version? Is it much better?

Can be hard wired and withstand lower/higher temperatures as well as maintenance free and tends to have better connectivity from what I have read. I am very tempted with this deal though, but will try to hold out for the pro going down in price. This deal is extremely hot though

They can be hacked if you don’t set up two factor authentication.

Currys did not honour the price (mistake, online) and cancelled my order for the pro. At least this is genuine
This might sound like an idiotic question but that's never stopped me before - how theft-proof are these?

Our door is right on the street in the middle of a town centre and I'm just afraid that someone would try and rip it off the door frame if they took a fancy to it, as its very visible to all passers-by.

I would love one, as we have two doors quite close together to get out of the house which creates a bit of an airlock effect and makes it hard to hear when people are knocking, but obviously don't want one if they're going to be nicked every week

They honoured it for a lot of people, myself included.
Typical currys, pick and choose who gets what, is exactly why I avoid them.
So tempting...
I love my echo show. Tempted with this deal to get one for upstairs x
Great deal, ordered. Thanks OP.

Thanks Ronny, that's really helpful. Might go and see one in-store to see how big it is and if I can find a way to integrate it subtly.

Yes. I ended up getting it for just over £110 was a scorching deal

You don’t necessarily want it subtle. We’ve had a lot of thefts from front porches round here, but the neighbours with rings (and other video doorbells) aren’t being targeted. Think they’re too wary of being caught on camera and the owner having video evidence to give to the police.
