A great price and worth every penny. Saved me from numerous trips to pick up parcels and missed appointments. Also great to see who's at the door before answering.

Would recommend hard wiring it because the battery life isn't great.

I have the motion feature active to monitor our cars outside and it does a great job. The quality of the video should be more than enough for most people.. and don't forget if it gets stolen you get a free replacement! (Providing you get a crime number).
Ring is one of the best doorbells out there , however i don’t like some aspects of it :

1. Doesn’t allow local storage, no sdcard slots nor can be saved on shared drives

2. Forced to use cloud storage plans , quite reasonably priced, but they can increase the price.
2 things to note:

- anti theft replacement only lasts a year and you have to jump through hoops to get replacement. During this time you will not have a doorbell.

- there is no internal chime, just a notification on your phone to say someone is at your door. No phone on you at the time if the call (trip to the bathroom etc) then you will miss the doorbell notification. To have an internal house audio chime you need the additional add on, which has strangley gone up from £24.99 to £34.80 at pretty much the exact same time as this amazon exclusive offer. So this offer saves you £15, but the most purchased accessory has gone up by £10....hmmm

Ring 1 is not very good at all. I've got one, wish I just paid extra and got Ring 2.

I have Ring 1 and find it fantastic, how so do you wish you got Ring 2?
I researched both and the only difference seemed to be a slightly better camera on the Ring 2 which quality wise would be negligible on a phone sized screen anyway hence why I went for the 1.

This is the first time ive considered a smart door bell. Is it as awesome as it sounds? I cant imagine being alerted to delivery men ringing my door bell and being able to speak to them while out and about... would be awesome to instruct them to leave my parcels somewhere... technology these days.

Yes they are great, saved me many a trip to the parcel collection place and also allowed me to find out which delivery men were walking across my grass and through my hedges which now doesn’t happen. 🤬
It also acts as a cctv as will pick up anyone who walks up the drive well before they reach the front door

Yes i know but it doesnt work with every exsiting chime as Amazon reviews testify. Hence why you will most likely need the genuine accessory if you dont have the required wiring skills or compatable hardware.

This is quite old. The issues highlited here were for the early adopters before upgrades and improvements were made on the firmware etc... No longer relevant...

Like for the techmoan reference, one of the best YouTubers out there
If you have the knowhow I recommended just buying a dvr cctv system with app access miles better than ring and no sub cost. Plus the ring doorbell is huge
I don’t see what’s to stop someone just stealing this from your front door??
Just reminds me of when it was £20 at argos on new year's day and they wouldn't honour it even though I'd paid. Bitter memories. Therefore cold.

Kidding.
Yea I have the ring one and I've had nothing but problems with it. It frequently disconnects even though it's connected to a chime Pro right by the front door. It always takes far too long to connect to see video and sometimes doesn't connect at all. The battery lasts about 4 weeks even though its not set to detect motion and I've never had one notification to tell me the battery is about to die. I just find out after a couple of days after getting no alerts! Save your money and sanity. Get a ring 2!

Nothing to stop them but it's a brick that no one can use when the next person tries to register it. Thieves have no idea about that so they still steal them thinking they are worth something.
I posted this when it was £89 and it went to - 255 ❄. Even though the next cheapest was £99.

I have both the Ring 1 and Ring 2... one at the front of the house and one at the back, both are hardwired, both perform identically

Identically good or identically crap?
What's the next alternative with App access and indoor bell?

The fact that it's hard to steal if you install it properly

It's recording. Oh it's useless if stolen

Then it's not been installed correctly, or it's faulty.

i picked up my ring 1 for £89 about 2 months ago and since then i have not had to go to a courier depot or the central mail collections to pick up a missed parcel - i have at least 5 times been able to tell the courier to leave the parcel with a neighbour or down the side of the house, also got a special delivery signed for parcel given to a neighbour.

the money and time saved by not having to go into collect missed parcels is worth it

What's the next alternative with App access and indoor bell?

im adding a byron 776 to mine shortly - it powers the unit ( so no having to recharge)
i havent bothered with the subscription as it seems this only gives you access to historical video feeds - live works fine when the bell is pushed

byron 776 - £11.99 Amazon
Had one of these for a while now, worked well for a long time but bit patchy now and connection drops in and out, might be my useless sky wifi though.
Doubt I could live without one now though, got the indoor chime and it goes off when someone pops their head around my drive.
I might get another one and stick the old one on the back door for extra security.
Oh and it stopped a burgularly within days of installing, two car loads of us rushing round from the pub luckily for him he got away but has never been back.
Got a R1. So far I am very pleased. And, oddly, there isn't many alternatives out there.. so class leader
Anyone recommend a doorbell that just sends notification to phone? I don't need the camera (got plenty CCTV covering all angles). Even with 2 chimes just now we still miss the doorbell if we're at back of house or upstairs (its a big old house).
We have had the Ring 1 for a long time now and never had any problems. Got sent the ding chime free from ring as a special promotion after purchasing the ring 1. Ours is hard wired in to a Beltran door chime so never needs charging. Very useful piece of kit.

Same here, Ring 1 has been great!?
I had problems getting mine to work on my wifi . Im using ubiquiti AC pro's ( in a mesh ) and the doorbell from outside wouldn't pick up signal ( despite my phone getting near enough full ! ) . I even setup a separate ssid running 2.4ghz but to no avail .

Only way i got round it was to purchase the chime pro ! which was more expense.

Also if you have a Samsung smart things system and some sonos speakers you can use them as a chime also

Can you provide some sort of source to back this up? As far as I know, it lasts as long as you pay for the subscription, however, they will only replace it once?
