Great price, great bit of kit, easy to set up.
Have three of these, decent bit of kit and very good price.
I was looking at investing in Nest products but after seeing this deal i might take a punt on it .So many different reviews on Ring and Nest its hard to make a decision when based on how expensive they are .
39017963-JOG5n.jpgFYI, the bundle deal with the echo show 5 is the same price

Superb bit of kit and their cloud subs are very cheap compared to the competition (Nest in particular are an absolute joke in this respect). Plus now they are owned by amazon they are rock solid so the support should always be there (although Amazon need to be quicker in getting more Alexa integration TBH).

This is an unbelievable deal which I'm sure is a cock up by Amazon (the show 5 was bundled with the cam when it was 249 quid but I'm sure they didn't intend to still bundle it when they had knocked 80 quid off the cam!). Just cant see them beating this on BF. But keep it wrapped just in case. But I would suggsst getting in quick before they realise...

Unbeleivable deal. Bought 2
Cool thanks Ring or Blink is the other qn I guess... Any advice?
Great price has been £199 for a long time on its own so 169 with echo show is super hot!

Ring even at normal prices but at this price? No-brainer. Very cheap (relatively) cloud sub also (2.50/mth or 25 quid a year).Even if you have no interest in the Show 5 I'd be very surprised if you couldn't get at least 60 quid for it on facebook etc. Net price for floodlight cam is then 109 quid (possibly 100)!

Blinding deal.Heat
How much would it cost for an electrician to fit this? Sorry if this is a silly question.

I got mine fitted for 60 quid but that included also fitting a plug socket in the loft. If you have an existing floodlight the wiring on this is apparently compatible and should be much cheaper to get fitted.
That's a excellent deal.
Ring or nest. Yes I'm too bothered to Google and I trust the brains of fellow hukders

Nearly got the cam on its own from Currys when it was £199 - but was a tad too late as it went out of stock
So for £169 WITH an Echo Show? No brainer.Super heat
Beat me to it. Spot on.

Both backed by huge companies, both very capable at what they do but at this price and with far cheaper cloud storage has to be Ring for me.

Me and electrics are not great bedfellows I'm afraid. Anyone?

Now, not seen it anywhere near this price before also with the echo

Yes, should work, just swapping the connectors
frowner18/11/2019 10:49

Yes it is, and legally speaking you do need an electrician to fit. Though I've done my own as when you come to sell the solictor will just tell the buyer to do their own surveys.

have been on the lookout for a ring floodlight to go with my ring pro doorbell. What is the advantage with the Echo? I currently get alerts on my phone, mac and ipad... I'm not sure where this offers an advantage over this? We don't have an Alexa in our house currently, unlikely to get one either.

Interested in opinions.

Big fan of ring and might get one of their monitored alarms as the yearly subscription covers all device recordings in the house
Can these be set up to record to a hard drive too?
bellboys18/11/2019 10:52

Should be a direct swap as you already have power up there.
I fitted my sensor floodlight 10 years ago when I first moved in, but the bulb has gone again. I expect this to be a simple job to replace it with the Ring jobbie (oo-er) that I just ordered.
Other than drilling a couple of holes in the wall where you want it the wiring is simple enough.

nope, they make their money out of the online subscription. Shame but understand their business model, there are lots of devices out there that do what you want but they are less 'plug and play'

Not that I know of. But the sub is so cheap compared to the competition (2.50/mth or 25 quid a year) and the app is so good it's not really worth buying one without subscribing imo.Once you start using it you realise it's actually a bit of a bargain...
