You use the special Ring screwdriver to unscrew it from the mount. It's the same screwdriver for everyone so you can probably buy it online on its own. You'd have to be set on stealing Ring doorbells specifically. It's not like you could see a Ring then think, 'ooh, I'm going to take that'. You'd have to be prepared.

You can then use a normal screwdriver to unscrew the mount although you would probably only be interested in running off with the doorbell quickly without the mount (which you can probably buy separately).

You would need to cover your face as you are being filmed.

--

If it does happen you can report it to the police and get a crime reference number (can be done online). Ring can then supply you with a free replacement. They can only do this once.

I do wonder if Ring is able to block stolen Ring devices from connecting to their servers, rendering them useless.

Find it hilarious that you don't understand the concept of this product. Are you saying that all CCTV is essentially useless as the perp can just use a mask? Are you saying it's completely pointless for a store to have any CCTV because a shoplifter can walk around with a hoody over his face?

TBH most people don't buy these as a way to monitor ones property, they are a doorbell allowing you to see who is at the door even when you aren't in. Pretty basic concept you failed to understand.

How is £139,99 cheaper than £134,99?
Silly question but how secure are these units? Ie thieves stealing the off front doors?
I bought this last time - a few points. I spent 3 weeks getting the 6 months free recording, it was not easy! Secondly it is a different pack to the amazon pack so things like the angle base unit to slant the whole doorbell are not included which is not a show stopper... if I had my day again the previous one would have done me as the resolution is okay.
I got the 6 months added in minutes on live chat with a PDF copy of the invoice... I'd want my 3 weeks back if I were you! 🙈

Aaagh my sister bought it day before yesterday from Costco at £159...anyone know if Costco ever refund the difference (or is that a silly question as then everyone would do the same every time anything’s on sale?!) or she returns and repurchase?

For anyone wanting the pro, you can contact Ring and ask for an upgrade to Pro. This will cost £50. With the Pro you get an extra chime which you could easily sell for £20 so £30 extra. I upgraded myself.

The pro is slimmer as it doesn't have a battery and has 5 GHz WiFi so connects a bit quicker when someone presses. It comes with interchangeable face plates too. No other differences vs this. Main reason for getting it is it looks much better.

its just a torx screwdriver head, was pretty disappointed after reading about how special it was so that noone would be able to nick it. still, they guarantee it afaik so if it does get nicked they'd send you a new one.

its not really any quicker at connecting really. the difference really is for the main part just the fact that if you were intending on hardwiring it in and wanted to pay extra you could get the bit less bulky pro version.

When I upgraded I noticed it connect quicker - there's a shorter delay before the Ring Chime goes off Vs Ring 2 as far as I can tell. It's because the Ring Pro can connect to 5GHz WiFi whereas the other models can only connect to 2.4GHz. It's not a big difference - about 5 seconds vs about 2 or 3 seconds.

The main reason for upgrading should be down to the size imo not the connectivity - the Pro is much slimmer and looks much better. If you have the wiring in place I'd recommend it. It's the first thing anyone sees when coming to your home

I bought it when it was more expensive from Costco, Regarding slant brackets, if you phone them and say you didn't get any, they will ship 3 each of slant and angle brackets free, from the US via UPS!!!, although they sent me for the doorbell 1versins !, I managed to modify with some exact length screws. Need to drill 2-3mm holes. Also bear with them, they have difficulty understanding my non cockney London accent, well the sales person I had anyway. Speak slow. Make sure you register the doorbell 2 and have it working, that way they can tell you bought one.
Bought one of these on Prime day with the Echo show for £143 or whatever it was.

Was dubious at first but quite pleased with it actually. Have had a chat with a few delivery drivers which has meant I have been able to direct them where to leave parcels etc. Battery at 40 percent after more than a month. There is a noticeable delay between press and connection which seems to be most people’s main criticism of this product, but so far most delivery drivers have stuck around for a response.

It it also adds another level of security along with the burglar alarm and hopefully means any would be thieves move onto the next house!
good review
I wonder if you can change the chime. The one I hear on the adverts winds me right up for some reason.
I've had constantly problems with these Rings, they've only just finally got the software to where I want it to be. I've been asking for them to have alert only, no record, they've only just done it the last patch lol. However the thing has a high amount of latency, the Chime Pro does nothing, Alexa cannot act as a Door Bell... which sucks, and a lot of the time it takes for than 30 second to connect, by which point the person has left. Also the speaker quality is so poor, the Postman can never understand what I'm saying.

There has to be better products out there, cause Ring isn't good.

Think you can chane internal sound for each chime you have plugged in. Don`t think you can change the sound of the bell when pressed at door, but then if someone at your door you wouldn`t hear the external sound of the bell, only those on the internal plug in chimes.

I got this last time Argos priced them wrong. On top I managed to swap them for the 1080p versions as the box stated it should be be but wee 720p.
They were cheap!!
Anyway I’ve got one installed on my toilet door, outhouse and even on my dogs Kennel.

Oh yes you can hear the outside chime when you’re indoors, it’s really loud. I was working on a job at someone’s house and the bell kept going off a lot with it’s out of tune lazy chime. It was doing everyone’s heads in

How long do these take to come up on the phone? Will it bring up live video on a google home hub whenever the bell is rung?
Good deal heat added. However if you have Alexa devices the chime is no longer required. It will ring/ announce and start a routine from any Alexa device.
You can can always sell the chime.

How is it a terrible review?, i know it's 3 years old but most of the pros and cons still stand.
Caught someone checking my door on mine the other day. Worth having! Unfortunately my neighbour had been robbed the same night on the next street over. It hasn't protected me but it has shown there are unscrupulous swines in my area which has made me redouble the security of my home.
