This is the Ring 1 - the ring 2 is £167.79 (without the chime) and has a removable chargeable battery pack, meaning you don't need it hard wired in.

The 2 is a much better product
I'm not sure how a static remote camera can protect you from 'package thieves'... and whilst it can alert you to intruders or burglars, you'd still have to contact the local gendarmes (AND WAIT FOR THEM TO COME OUT), and they definitely don't prioritise 'burglary seen on a webcam'.

It isn’t the Ring 1, the pro is 1080p with 5ghz and 2.4ghz Wifi with advanced motion.
I have the Ring Pro and my friend the Ring 2 with integrated battery. I dislike his as the live viewing takes a lot out of the battery and he is charging the unit weekly. The point I am making is you will need to recharge vs always power and plumbed in via transformer. I would always use the transformer option. Works a treat.

The ring 1 and ring 2 can be hardwired just like the pro. It's just that your friend has chosen not to.

Don't confuse ring pro with ring 1 - different products. Ring pro is much smaller and looks way better (from my point of view). Plus it has better camera.
