The Video Doorbell emits an audible alert outside the home. It can be wired to trigger your existing doorbell, or linked over Wi-Fi to the Ring Chime or Ring Chime Pro (sold separately) to sound an alert within the home.

The Ring Video Doorbell 1 (2nd generation) has been enhanced to include 1080p Full HD video resolution for even clearer footage and improved night vision.

The privacy and the way Ring stores your data is questionable, before buying you might want to read this and look further into it if you think that might be a problem for you.

This is a great deal, I have a eufy doorbell, but the battery only lasts 30 days max, and getting worse, very hit and miss with detection, the only good thing is there is no subscription and it stores everything on an SD card.

I actually need a new doorbell. Looking at getting a video one like this …I actually need a new doorbell. Looking at getting a video one like this (battery powered). Is it worth looking at the newer versions (3 and 4)? They are a decent bit more expensive.

Same would also like to know if the 3 or 4 is worth the extra. Amazon has got the 3 with Echo show bundle for £50 more. (edited)

Hmm, i'm in general agreement on this and all these companies are generally, inherently bad.. though, the ship has sorta left port :/

Anyways, anyone got thoughts on alternatives? most do cloud storage anyway.. i looked at the Eufy one with local storage - anyone used it?

Tbh, these aren’t really a deal breaker and are a bit overblown for the convenience the device provides. I don’t particularly consider the outside of my house as private data when it’s there for anyone to see any hours of the day. The tracking cookies in the app are probably the most worrying but you can modify permission in iOS. The court case is not specific to ring and would include any home CCTV which have been around for years.

Can you turn off that annoying external ring on these or at least turn it down?
