I'm looking to start upgrading to a Smart Home in prep for the release of the Google Home series. Already got the assistant which is mediocre.

Anyone got any advice on the best products to get? That genuinely make for a smarter living experience, like saving money, protection and an integrated experience

See these - good reviews, decent price, got a price drop on a fair few smart products ATM on here.

What a load of .

Great piece of kit. You can chat to your burglars as they empty your house.

Of course this may be a long conversation as the police have recently announced that they will not bother to respond to burglaries unless the burglar is actively beating you over the head whilst your are on the phone reporting your assault and burglary.

Ring kit is awesome. I guess they clear the stock as they released their new flood cam now.

These days you don't really need a hub for smart lighting, you can get bulbs that work without one.

ones that just hook up to your smart device? Google home, Alexa etc

Good price and heat for people looking for a cheap alternative, but the spotlight one (not floodlight, although they are great) has replaced it is much better if you can afford the extra, its now 1080p and comes in 3 different types, battery, mains, and solar, has a motion light on it as well.

Yeah.

That website has some cheap products! What is their customer support like?

ordered quite a bit from them, always turns up on time with tracked delivery. Never had an issue so never had to use the support system

Bought this from Robert Dyas last week for £119 (inc delivery), service was very good but the product itself is a let down. I'm probably going to send it back as the quality of footage isn't great even when it's right next to the router. Where I want to mount it on an exterior wall the signal is strong in my phone, but the camera is all grainy and stutters. Considering a wi fi booster but it's not turning out to be the semi-cheap solution I was hoping for.

I wouldnt go hive, i have hue and hive bulbs and the hue are far superior. However I do have a hive thermostat and that comes recommended.

I'm looking for a greater living experience too.

I meant this one... that’s the after model

Hue & Netatmo instead of Hive. There's plenty of smart plugs around but I've never found them useful to be honest.
Also, Echo seems better than Google Home.

I just got the Home Mini last week and I'm not a fan, was excited especially about it using voice models to give different answers to different people and we use a lot of Google services in this house but it's been useless for a lot of things.
The only thing its better at is giving answers to search results, but you can set up a Skill on Alexa to do that by saying "Alexa, Ask Google.....".

Dafuq is this? Better than one of those gearworst £12 ip security cameras, but with sales copy written by the ghost of Steve Jobs?
