What's to stop someone nicking this?

I've bought the new Ring Video Doorbell Video Camera to monitor the Ring Video Doorbell against theft for only £130.

A rechargeable HD doorbell ... The future is here folks!
Since Amazon bought Ring there are now loads of deals on here.
I was to shout at my delivery driver when he delivers burst and open packages! Heat

Maybe Amazon have installed the valentine-esq SIM into each doorbell... In the event of theft... Pffttt... Psychedelic mushroom clouds.

Ring also disable it, so it will be pretty useless
Any units which are stolen are bricked and will no longer function.
Great price for a great product. Highly recommended.
I really don't see any point in this 'Gimmick'? That's my opinion.

P.S: Whatever happened to neighbourhood watch???

There is a "Neighbourhoods" section in the Ring app actually. You can view videos from up to 8KM away that your other Ring neighbours may choose to share. Why you would want to post videos of strangers to other strangers I'm not entirely sure though..
Using CCTV on your property

CCTV used on your property will be exempt from the Data Protection Act unless you are capturing footage of individuals outside your property.

If your camera covers, even partially, any areas beyond the boundaries of your property, such as neighbouring gardens or the street, then it will no longer be exempt from the Data Protection Act (DPA) under the domestic purposes exemption. This does not mean that you are breaching the DPA but it does mean that you might need to take some steps to comply with it.
Hi there I have a special delivery item for you, that needs a signature.
Just leave it at the front, sorry you need to sign for it and its exempt from going to neighbours.
What you doing.... Writing a card out so you can collect it next working day.
But......... Thanks, bye now.
Do you still need to pay the subscription for this if you don’t want the videos stored? Thanks

33561307-mOphT.jpgNot sure, but according to Ring website terms and conditions, it seems like purchases through Amazon and Ebay are not covered by theft protection.

Heard of YouTube? That’s quite popular apparently
Your covered when buying direct from Amazon though, just not third party .

Coming to a housing association property near you!
How many potential burglars ring the door bell before fleecing you of your valued possessions??? A crap idea. Simple.

I think it’s a poor idea too but your point isn’t valid, it starts recording on motion detection

So it’s a motion detection CCTV system, but if the burglar wants to chat as well as being detected he can press the doorbell, or turn on the microphone as I would say

Lol I think you need to look past the burglar aspect, it’s for other things too, ie you’re out and get a delivery, said courier presses Bell, it connects to your mobile, you speak to him and perhaps give a code to an outside delivery box, porch access, leave in safe place. And the big one, you can nail the knock and run gurus now don’t get me wrong, I still think it’s a waste of money for me, but it has a purpose for some
It has lot of negative reviews on Amazon.

That's a damn shame! I live in a cul-de-sac and used whatsapp to set-up a neighbourhood group. It works really well and more than anything else it's free!
Does it actually record footage when bell is pressed, also does mic and camera stay on constantly, just incase you wanna catch convos happening on or in close proximity of your house?
Just to add to above question, if there is recording does it get saved in some sort of cloud?

RIP Knock n door run.
Thanks. Was thinking of getting nest. But I don't have a wired connection. This should serve the purpose for now.
