As above, removable battery, improved resolution and supposedly improved battery life.

Consensus seems to be that it's a good evolution, but not necessarily worth the upgrade if you own the 1st gen.

Thank you, i have the ring 1 at home looking at placing one at my hubbies workshop and was thinking if swapping them over, want the brass one though, thank you
It looks like the lowest this has ever been. Have some heat. Bought.
Maybe get John Lewis to price match too?
Anyone know how long a charge lasts? Is this without the chime thing so doesn't actually alert you with a noise just a phone notification?

The battery is supposed to last 6-12 months, in practice, a friend tells me it lasts around 3-4 in winter, 6 in the summer.

This doesn't come with the chime. If you have an existing wired chime it should function with that, otherwise you would need to purchase the wireless chime separately.

Hope this helps!
Good deal but waiting for the Nest Hello myself

Watch out for the re-trigger time, there is a good review on YouTube by Lifehackster, he points to how the device doesn't rearm itself for far too long. Hopefully something that can be easily fixed with an update though.
I never thought I’d ever have to comment on doorbell design but that’s one ugly doorbell.

Nest Hello will wipe the floor with this.

The pro version of Ring looks alot better. This one is rather chunky.

Still, it's a good price, voting hot.

The Ring Pro may be more your preference, which is really what the Nest should be compared too.

Too many issues and limitations with the Nest for me to consider right now.

Agreed, it's a consequence of needing a battery that dictates much of the design of the Ring. On the flip side, you don't need existing wires or a voltage of 16-24v from your transformer.
Do you get any alert if someone try to remove this door bell from outside ? Lol

Well you would get an alert that there is motion and a free replacement from Ring if it's stolen so LOL indeed...
Does the camera only turn on when the button is pressed? Or does it have good motion sensors? By that I mean they won't go off because the wind blew a plant.

Ive had the ring door bell (first gen) for about two years. A full charge lasts between 1 to 2 months. It depends where you live and how busy your road is. In terms of picking up notifications. Checking your live camera etc. I live on a close that I would advise isn't that busy.
It may sound like a pain, potentially charging every month to two max. But I'd always recommend the rinf doorbell. Wouldn't be without one now.

IR motion sensors with adjustable zones of detection. Probably depends how close the plant is, can't really say

Well never had video doorbell before thatswhy i was asking this before purchasing ..i might need one for house in backhome where there is risk of stealing
The main difference is the battery removes for charging rather than removing whole unit to charge. The quality honestly you can't really tell between ring and ring 2. Also it comes with 2 coloured face plates one satin silver and one dark bronze type and I think a plain backing. Check your wifi works where you want to fit it!!!!

Its a plastic build as well, not as solid as the metal that i understand was on the first Ring. A shame but not a deal-breaker for me.
Do these ever get nicked?

Everyone knows what they are and there's definitely a certain stigma attached, it's nailed on had they been about in my teenage scally times our little firm would have taken great pleasure in removing them from people's doors so I'd have thought that would be very much the case nowadays too

Oh I bet they do get nicked, you can pick up the a torx screwdriver to undo the security screw for next to nothing.

The only saving grace being Ring replace it for free if it's stolen. Plus you want would catch the thief on camera so if they are well known to the local police, you would hope they would act on it.

Great deal but was a much better deal last week, argos had it on sale with the chime for 159 and after ebay 20% off was only £127 with chime
Super hot, I have the original Ring doorbell and it’s great, but this is full 1080p HD so upgrading at this price!
Will this trigger the existing chime on my current doorbell if I had it wired?
