Ring video doorbell 2 / £50 discount off ring Cameras with code £129 - Hertfordshire residents only? @ Ring.com

*** Discount code: HERTSOWL ***

Had email from local neighborhood watch, ring.com are doing £50 discount off video cameras for Hertfordshire residents using the above discount code.

Think this is the cheapest you can get your hands on a Video 2 doorbell at the moment.

The offer Ts&Cs state the £50 discount is for Hertfordshire residents only, they may cancel your order if its not shipped to a Hertfordshire address - but personally think that is unlikely.

See owlprotect.uk/hom…tml

Looksl like you can use code OWL20 to get £20 off legitimately if you live elsewhere.

I paid £50 for a 4 HD camera system with network alert, constant recording, motion detection, much better than a £130 doorbell + sub.I spent 4 years as a courier and I would be really p**** if I turned up and saw one of these by the door.[Video] 12:55ish

I purchased a chicken sandwich from Asda today, thats about as relevant to this deal as your first sentence is. I fail to see anything in that comment useful other than you clearly don't have a Ring Doorbell, you have some Chinese CCTV system that probably could tell the difference between a person and a frog. Oh you spent 4 years as a courier who would rather not be told where to leave it safe and lob it over the fence or 13 houses up because they answered the door.

This clearly has its uses for some people, at at the price its a hot deal. Albeit not as hot as the fire hazard CCTV system you have!

Welcome @dodgybadass welcome to the site and thanks for sharing
if you can, i'd wait for the AMAZON 3.0 version integrated with alexa and your pace maker.
Looking at the promo video for the ring doorbell 2 on their website. It shows someone walk up to the door with the ring door bell to the persons right. At best all the doorbell will see a forearm. But in the next clip where the home owner looks through the camera, the person is dead centre of the camera and further back. So I thought it was going to be pretty useless, but then i this it’s got some sort of magic with the optics. Amazing.

Or are these installed in the middle of the front door?

They have sensors on so will pick movement up when people are upto 15M away, bit like a security light.
You can adjust it though I changed mine to 5M as it picked up every car that drive past my house
You can install it either to the door or brickwork.

Oh I thought when someone rings the doorbell your mobile goes off and you can see/speak to the person or not.

Do you need a subscription for watching videos captured ‘pre-doorbell’ press. Maybe I miss understand it

it alerts you to the movement before they even press the bell (i.e. as they are walking towards the bell), then when they press the bell you get another alert.

You don't need a suscription to view live video - the subscription is to keep the videos for 30 days in the cloud (£2.50 per month per camera or £8 per month for unlimited camera's.

I have the doorbell and a couple of the camera's - they are really good but you need a good wifi connection - the ring chime pro (the indoor door bell - if you don't have this - the doorbell only rings your phone) has an integrated wifi extender which helps.
This is the lowest price ever for this, but there's a contingent on HDUK that ices all Ring deals because an olde-fashioned bog-standard doorbell was good enough for their parents and grandparents and they see no need for any of this modern technology malarkey. You might try posting a deal for Kaspersky if you want to see a similar effect.
Shame the Elite is still so expensive.
£50 off the floodlight cam too. can combine both and get £100 off

They are excellent, all have a great wide lens and also come with an angled mount. So you can mount it at a slight angle if that suits you.

£5 delivery - cold
I saw on the news that Amazon have bought Ring and are looking at delivering into the home, maybe into your fridge?
Yes, was going to pull the trigger recently until I learned of the amazon purchase. Now will happily wait a while to see what this development brings with regards to price and better Alexa integration (the Ring skill on Alexa has been getting simply dreadful user reviews).

I have one of these. These have a fisheye lens so they are really wide angled, and surprised how much it can pick up. Have it about 1 foot off centre from the front door but it comes with a wedge to angle the right way. Best thing i like about this is the live camera or motion detection element so you can keep an eye.
The comments from people who own these are a lot of help. Contribution is much appreciated.

I didn’t know about the fish eye lenses for a wide field of view and the angled wedge for mounting. Makes a lot of sense actually.
What do you guys think of the subscription prices and the level of service this gives you?

It’s £24 a year if you pay upfront....
Hardly bank breaking,IMO there would be little point having the Ring doorbell if you didn’t intend to subscribe so you should factor that into the overall cost.

because if you had actually read who I was replying to and what they just said, It might make more sense. Clearly not to people such as yourself.

I saved up almost 2 years of paper rounds, washing cars and mowing lawns to get a DX4 100 mate, came with Wing Commander 3. Wiped the floor with your puny DX 66.

And then came the pentium literally a month later which came on motherboards which were totally incompatible with the RAM, sound card and graphics card that my PC had (was it ISA or something?). The days when you could drop a grand on a PC and it'd be worth £200 in 3 months

But yeah this door bell is vastly overrated. Their support who claims to be your neighbour is ok I guess, they tried to resolve my issues with the quality of the image but eventually started to ignore me. Probably because I told them what I thought of their product and their email blocked me
Would hold out & see what Amazon brings to the table with their recent purchase of Ring before splashing out.
Heat added. Best price I've seen on this and I live in Hertfordshire!
