Currys also have it at this price and you get a 6 months Spotify as well
How easy is it to wire-up? My DIY limit is wiring a 3-point plug, if I check what the wires' colours are first.

Been waiting for the price of these to go down! But don’t know if worth waiting for the pro to be reduced? Or are they both pretty much the same. I will be wiring it.
Am I correct in saying this will not integrate with Google Home?
Good spot
Wow, just checked the reviews and many, many comments of it not working, slow notification times and problems with motion detection. Unsure if this is a 'deal' or just looks like one as it's got a big reduction?

This is the one with rechargeable battery in comparison to PRO version which is hardwired
Damn, so tempted! Do I need it? No...
Tempted too. But waiting for £50 mark . Or for the nest, as I have Google smart displays, only speakers with Alexa. Hot!

True but amazon has easy payments and you can only use the 6 months spotify on new accounts not existing ones, got burned with that one at christmas
Might be a silly question but does anyone know what is happening with the chime? Seems out of stock most places including amazon. Is there a new version coming?

I’m half waiting for the nest as it does continuous recording but still tempted to get this for this price! Don’t think nest would drop this much

I dont think will drop too. I was tempted to get Ring, but even £90 may not be a lot, some reviews suggest considerable delays.

Thanks. The deal's description says it can be powered either by battery or wiring, which is therefore misleading.

The reviews could be from people who don’t have a great internet connection, I suppose it’s a waiting game hopefully nest drops it’s price soon!

Yes, I guess I can take the chance, order one, test it and if it does not work, send it back. However, I want to use it with a smart display and I only have Google, so don't really want to mess with this one for the sake of it. I do like it more than Nest, as it works on battery, however, some reviews suggest hard wired works better.
I am confused with some reviews on Amazon. As well as the £89 up front cost, there is a subscription cost? This makes it very expensive.

No harm in trying, you mind end up liking it. I’ve heard things about ring not integrating with google smart home devices. You get the option with this one which is nice, I would personally wire it just cause I am lazy with charging things!

The subscription cost is only if you want the recording to save for 30 days. If you just want to use live mode then it’s free

It will not work with Google as it is the competition. No harm in trying, but if I like it, I will have to buy an Alexa smart display too. So will add up to my collection of 3 x Alexa (speakers only) and 4 x Google smart displays . I really do not want this. My favourite of Ring range is the Door View Cam.
I have the ring doorbell v1 is it worth swapping? Just for the image? Is it any quicker linking up once door bell is pressed?

Door view cam does continuous recording so worth buying with the ring door bell! You have a nice collection building up there! I’ve heard good things about the Alexa smart display so I’m sure you can’t go wrong! Just more money to spend!
Do you get the dark bronze face for this?

No, the door view camera is another Ring door bell, not a camera. It is the one you instal through the peep hole, so half of the Door bell is in your house, which will make it easier to charge and the battery will not be exposed to weather, and the other half is on the outside part of the door. It makes it more difficult to get it stollen too.

Only if you wire it up wrong
I bought the battery version with the ring chime Pro but might have to send it back. The WiFi signal is very hit and miss even in the same room as the router! The main problem is the chime connects to the router but no Internet. (NHS) router. I believe this is because there is a landing page once you log into the WiFi. I am unable to mess around with the settings as it could bugger up the Internet. Works OK at home apart from the WiFi strength issues. Seems a lot of money for me but the Surgery could do with one of these to help them out at the moment.

This shows that they do work, but probably not in the way in which we want them to work (ie. opening straight into the display). homeguidereport.com/do-…st/

There is a yearly subscription that can be made slightly cheaper by paying in dollars with a fee free card. It's a good device although a bit laggy at times. Great as a deterrent to any riffraff and for asking parcels be left in the porch. Protects our cars and we put the lamb bone from our sunday roast in the garden and got some great footage of the local foxes. I got mine for 19.99 at Argos about 2 years ago (version 1) and it's more than paid for itself.
Bought, thanks OP for a great spot!
Reviews on Amazon are not great. It might be worth waiting for the newer version to come down in price if your not in a rush for a doorbell with a camera
Thinking about getting this but would I need a ringer/chime? I have an echo show 8 also
Thanks @idontflycathay - went for it

A great time to not have a door bell working no thanks I'll stick with the ancient one for now and it doesn't cost me anything each month. I love tech and surrounded by it with Hue bulbs, etc but doorbell....... Nah.
Ring owners... doesn’t a ring doorbell scream ‘my house is full of tech!’? They’re very discrete
