And if are not at home? If you are waiting for delivery? If someone is checking the house for robbery?

Good price for sure
having got a netvue fllodlight and struggled like a mofo to connect it due to only being on 2.4ghz channel - I am hesitant to purchase something which is inherently known for weak Wi-fi

Cool story. Does your doorbell send you notifications someone is at your door when you are away from home? What other security features does your £5 doorbell have. I get the point you're trying to make but they are 2 very different products. 1 gives notifications someone is at the door the other is used for security.

I know it's not for everyone, but this is mainly for security and also say if somebody is delivering something you can say ask them to leave it down the alley or a neighbour if your not in.

Also I believe Ring replace the door bell for free if it gets stolen?

Yes, I have heard that, but you need a crime reference number from police, and maybe you have to jump through some other hoops too. I see the value of these over my £5 bell, but this is undermined by the fact they are expensive enough to be worth nicking. Around the £30 mark, I'd probably be buying one.

by the time you've reacted a determined thief can get in and out and be gone (stand in front of the door bell leaving you nothing to see whilst his/her mate nips into the back etc etc.) so no real advantage if you're not at home.

a £5 doorbell is probably fixed to a door which normally lets people in and keeps them out and are very often linked to house security alarm. in this respect ring is no different.
An outdoor cam would do much more for less ££.

Why bother having an alarm then? Why bother having any security features at all if scoundrels can bypass them? They are there for an added line of security. Something to make it more difficult for nobbers to rob your house. As others have said there are many uses for them that a £5 doorbell can't offer.

Its the law of diminishing returns though, an alarm acts as a deterrent simply because most thieves want an easy target - they'll simply move on to find a house without an alarm. Having security cameras might also make them think twice. A fancy pants £159 doorbell is unlikely to be an additional deterrent if you have one of the two main ones - in fact, there is probably the risk it gives the impression that the owner buys all the latest gadgets regardless of their cost, so might have more to steal.
Good price, doesn’t deserve to be so cold!

Try getting a camera of the same quality, a display, on the go notifications and as easy a installation as this for the same price. You'll struggle I think

All ip outdoor cams have notifications to your smartphone. On Some you can talk through them. You can record to an sd card to avoid subscription and wifi glitches.

I'm guessing if he isn't home he can't answer the door either way.
If he's waiting for a delivery he is at home anyway.
And if someone is checking the house for robbery 'sorry I cant answer the door' almost certainly means your not in.

Yet they cannot do one of the main features of this product which is to alert you when someone presses your doorbell.

Any link available to something like this ALBO4EVER ? Do you have a camera setup you'd recommend ? Anything that avoids subscription would be a bonus so thanks for the info

That's exactly the point. "if not in, can be left by back door" for example.

May be ok for a lot of people, but things change every day a lot for me as I don't know where I'm going to be every day (I'm a mobile engineer although can spend a lot of time at home when it's quite) and also depending what it is and which neighbours are going to be in when it's delivered.

Sometimes you don't know until the actual day if you want if left with a neighbour or in a safe location (might even leave the padlock on the side gate open if I'm only going to be out for a couple of hours and ask if they can lock it once they have put the item down there).

Must admit its still a bit too expensive for me at the moment, but some people it's a good price for them.

If you are not at home, you can answer Ring from any point on globe with Internet. And you can ask to leave delivery somewhere. Plus you will have a record of a person and can always say that you are busy, not interested.

Of course, that would be your opinion and I can't judge if your opinion is worth taking on board given the fact you've not shown any indication as to having any appreciable intelligence thus far. But do troll on.......
