Ring's range of smart video doorbells and security cameras let you monitor your home from anywhere, so you never miss a visitor. They help to keep your home secure by protecting you against intruders and unwanted guests. Using the free Ring app (available on iOS, Android and Windows 10) you can get instant alerts on your smart device whenever anyone presses your doorbell or triggers a motion sensor. You can even see, hear and speak to visitors from your smart phone, tablet or PC. Ring products allow you to set up an integrated ring of security around your home for peace of mind.

Ring Video Doorbell

With the Ring Video Doorbell you can answer the door from anywhere. Get an instant alert to your smart device when anyone presses the doorbell or triggers the built-in motion sensor. With two-way voice interaction you can see, hear and speak to your visitor by using the Ring app on your smart device, while noise cancellation technology improves the quality of the audio signal. The Video Doorbell emits an audible alert outside the home. It can be wired to trigger your existing doorbell, or linked over Wi-Fi to the Ring Chime or Ring Chime Pro (sold separately) to sound an alert within the home.

Features:

  • The video camera has a 180 degree field of view and records in sharp 720p HD resolution
  • It's weather-resistant, operating between -20° and +48° C, to work rain or shine
  • Infrared night vision ensures operability day and night
  • In-built motion sensors are customisable
  • It can be powered by the built-in rechargeable battery (lasting for 6 to 12 months), or connected to your existing doorbell wiring for non-stop charge
  • Connects over your home Wi-Fi network
  • Bank-grade encryption of your data ensures privacy
  • Easy to install

With an optional Video Recording Plan (sold separately, available from Ring) you can access your videos anytime, anywhere, save your videos for up to 60 days, and share your videos with friends, family and neighbours.

System Requirements:

  • Wireless Internet Connection (Wi-Fi)
  • An iOS (version 8.1 or newer), Android (version 4.1 or newer), or Windows 10 device with the Ring app installed

There is a lag on these devices. It will only record few seconds after the sensor is activated. This is by design. The only Ring doorbell which works perfectly is the Video Doorbell Pro.

Thats not true, I have the Ring 2 and it works perfectly, having a decent 2.4ghz signal helps.

I think he means it's a lag of the motion sensor that takes a few seconds before it records not the internet connection.
You're on a roll today @benhornsby1999 - another one we've just Highlighted
I would avoid these. Got the Doorbell 2, there is lag on the motion detection and sometimes it doesn't fire at all. The video quality isn't anywhere near the 1080 advertised. This is with a strong WiFi connection and 250Mb broadband.
It's a decent price for £68, you won't find anything better.

However if you have more to spend than Nest Hello doorbell offers outstanding picture quality, records 24/7 with a beautifully designed app.

Does this model require the whole door bell to be removed for charging? I understand Ring 2 has removable battery. Is it easy to remove the door bell every time?
Thanks
download Rapid Ring to access your camera in a second
2 screws to remove the unit to recharge. You get plenty of use even with live mode running. I'm well chuffed with ours and I subscribe to the yearly, 30 day retention
Really can't get the appeal of these
Better save and go for pro. This and 2nd model are huge and less options to configure. I tried all of them and pro is a way to go from my experience
The price is good but the bell isn't.
Trust me don't buy this version go for the 1080 it's amazing and no lag
For the price it's actually great. As long as you have decent WiFi (as in mesh WiFi along with separate bands). One of the best smart home investments, caught the cheeky Amazon man trying to dump my packages many a time.. I like to do the surprise "oi, I don't think so".
Ordered, thanks
Pay the extra for Pro with a decent picture, no lag, and a hard wired transformer. You have to take these ones off regularly and recharge them!

Probably why they lag so much - can't scan all the time or it would run the battery down too fast.
Great price just use an old style doorbell for internal chime will also keep the ring doorbell charged so no need to remove.

This is the one I use works for ring v1 & v2

It doesn't advertise 1080 it's a 720 doorbell. I have one with no issues. It shouldn't be used as part of home security, get proper cameras for that, this should be used to talk to people at the door which it's ideal for.

How long does it take doorbell to video on your phone?

The Doorbell 2 is advertised as a 1080 camera. It's obviously a security solution as it has motion detection and recording (if you pay for the subscription). I'm glad yours works great, some of us do have issues though.
I most be a saddo but I maybe get knocks at my door maybe 2-3 times a week. Does not justify it. I get deliveries sent to Amazon locker. If its a Royal Mail delivery they leave the slip if I am not in. Theres nothing this device will do about that.

I got a ring 2 from Costco for £130 the other week

Mine takes seconds, I have a good connection to doorbell, it tells you in settings how good your connection is to doorbell from router in a scale. I then have fibre broadband so for me about 5 seconds to phone. It does miss about the first 2 seconds of motion detection. But I can live with that.
The big thing for me was the 180 degree vision which the ring 2 doesn't have. 160 degrees.

If you have an old hardwired doorbell in place you can just replace it with this. Mines hardwired.
Sorry if this seems stupid. Ive seen these but don't know a lot. Do i pay subscription on top or anything else?

You pay subscription, a basic one is £2.50 a month ( one device) . For this all your recordings are kept in cloud storage.
Round here this wouldn't last too long without someone breaking it off for fun or nicking it.
Even if it was a perfect HD picture of the kids doing it the police wouldn't spend much time looking for a stolen doorbell.

I think a decent camera placed higher up would be a good alternative.

Ring pro requires 24 volts. Old style door bells are ~ 9 volts. Are the non pro Ring door bells lower voltage then?

Then Ring replace it for free with a crime reference number.
