My mum has the ring front and back of the house and it saved her house being broke into around a year ago and thanks to video footage the next day someone was arrested and charged.

Someone could smear crap on your lens, then you're knackered..

Or wear a face mask. I have had one for a few years - it works for me (Ring door bell not face mask). I have seen people walking down the path, see the bell, turn around and walk off again. People selling stuff tend to knock the door rather than ring the bell (the Ring will record and notify you when it detects movement so you see/record them anyway) so I ignore the door if the bell isn't rung.
I have the V1 - the image quality is fine but to recharge you need to unscrew the unit and take it indoors for charging. Newer battery models have a removable battery - an additional battery costs £20 meaning you can easily swap out the batteries. Also in the cold the battery looses its charge quicker. Amazon have a newer version (£139 limited time price) - it uses a peep hole which means the batteries are inside the house so are easier to change and should last longer before charging is required. Its worth looking into the different versions if you are thinking of getting one. My other issue with the V1 is there is often lag between door bell press and actually seeing an image my phone. To fix this I also installed a regular peep hole.

They all need a rip off subscription to record

£24.99 a year, works out just over £2 a month or 48p a week, I don’t think that’s unreasonable?
Tammy_Thistlethwaite09/10/2019 16:48

What's the difference please ,which one would be best to buy?

V1 has a 180 degree 720p lens
V2 has a 160 degree 1080p lens
Pro has a 160 degree 1080p lens

Pro needs to be hardwired, v1 and v2 have rechargable batteries but can be hardwired.

Probably attempted burglary.
Does Ring display to Chromecast and Nest Home Hub now? Seems to be the case from reading online.
Does it record to internal storage, sd card or do you have to pay ring to store footage on their cloud?

Will the camera work on a normal NVR?
I've got nothing to rob.

It would be burglary, not robbery. Unless you were robbed on your doorstep.
