How can you buy a doorbell for over £100 that doesn’t even chime? If your phone runs out of battery you wouldn’t even know anyone was at your front door. bonkers

So go buy a chime? And most people have an echo dot which works just as well, or even better in my opinion
I am.not comfortable giving Amazon access to my front door and on top pay for it Noooo way especially when they are moving our data to US which has third world privacy laws

If you have any alexa device at home, you would not need any chime.
If you really need one. You can buy one for £20 still works out alot cheaper than buying from amazon at £229

You can of course use your existing wiring and chime if it’s compatible. Alternatively you can use an Echo dot or similar Amazon device if you have one.

The missing chime can be bought for £25 if you need one but not everyone does anyway.

Bought this and had ring replace it as it didn't hold the power to the device properly. Otherwise good price
What's the best way to install this if you haven't to got wired existing doorbell. DIY self or will have to call professional??

I believe if that’s the one they advertised as full HD, they’ve been known to replace them for free. Don’t know the details but it’s been said on here before.

You can link it to Alexa devices too through out the house. Though I’d recommend wiring in a normal chime too. Which I’ll do when I get round to it as there is a delay before the chime and Alexa goes bonkers in my house b
It doesnt need a chime as you will connect the transformer to your old door bell chime.

Not sure how you'd do that. The old transformer and bell chime are entirely cut out of the new circuit.

Amazon probably already know more about you than you could possibly imagine. Ask for your data file - you'd be amazed.
These are being sold as "New", but they are not new. They are supposedly coming with 1-year manufacturer's warranty, but this will not be the case if it has been pre-installed.
I bought this same product from this seller, but couldn't get the trial for video recording to work. So I contacted Ring Customer Services, who insisted it had been installed 6 months earlier.
Buyer beware! If possible, check yours (with Ring) before you screw everything in place, just in case you decide to return it.

Not true. Old transformer is replaced but old chime is in the circuit. You control from the Ring app if you want your existing chime to work or not.

In the end I decided to toggle it off as mobile+Alexa is enough to alert me.

Rather depends on the voltage of your existing bell, which in the UK will usually be lower than the Ring transformer voltage. The Ring kit includes a bypass for the existing chime to avoid overvoltage, and that's what the manual states.

If you buy the plug, you will not need the transformer. Just connect the 2 wires at the back of the door bell And plug it in.

I installed it following instructions and Ring power kit doesn't bypass existing chime. My old transformer was 8V and I replaced it with supplied Ring 24V. Chime works well

From the manual:

"Congratulations! You’ve now replaced your transformer and bypassed your existing doorbell. A successful bypass should look something like the image below. Now you’re ready to install your Ring Video Doorbell Pro!"

I wouldn't want to be putting 24v through something designed for 8v.
Actually it says on the Ring website "The Ring Video Doorbell is compatible with AC-powered door chimes operating between 8-24 volts. "

I think you chose the installation option "If your chime kit isn’t compatible, click here for more information on bypassing it."
My chime seems to be compatible as it is working fine

Glad it's working OK. I didn't choose any options. Just used the manual in the box.

So,is it really brand new?

That's why I put quotes round "new", not "as new".

Do you think I shouldn't have shared my experience, so that others are also duped by this company?
Get the one you can angle downwards so it doesn't capture your neighbour's houses and the street, to avoid data protection problems.

Ring won't replace stolen devices if purchased from ebay. Currently you can get new door bell from ring if submitting police evidence of stolen one
