They any good?

They any good?

yeah worth getting even at £139 in my opinion

How exactly do these work? Do you talk to the person at your door via your mobile/tablet?

Does the fact that you didn't physically come to the door suggest to the caller that you actually aren't in? If so that would-be burglar rubs his hands in glee and discretely breaks into your house if he's confident that the camera hasn't caught his face?

These should cost £30.

Should but they can easily get £150 as people will buy them....

If I asked the Yodel man to leave my parcel on the doorstep as I'm not home, he would soon tell me where to go!

Just ask him to leave it on your roof.

got one of these with the additional internal door bell on offer from amazon for £140 a few months ago.
Sent it back after 7 days as the quality of the picture was awful.

1. Someone presses the button and about 45 secs later the app tells you someone at the door
2. Images broke up so many times and i have a stable 40mb fibre connection and a decent 4G signal on phone
3. Tech support in USA said they couldn't help and suggested i just sent it back

May have just been unluckly but for the cost i decided an cheap IP camera was just better value. The fact it takes 30 to 45 secs for it to tell you someone at the door to be honest a delivery bloke or the postman has normally done a runner if you are not at the door straight away.

Great idea but far over priced. Would have prob kept if it was like £49

There are some cheaper options as well under £100

These should cost £30.

Here's one that does cost about £30:- https://www.banggood.com/Digoo-SB-XYZ-Wireless-Bluetooth-and-WIFI-Smart-Home-HD-Video-DoorBell-Camera-Phone-Ring-p-1116385.html?rmmds=search

only 720p though, and probably requires a crappy app.

Isn't this ring 720p too?

This Techmoan review is well worth a look

So it is. I would have expected 1080p+ at over 100 quid.

It's a video doorbell, does it really matter when you'll be likely viewing on a phone? - to be honest I think these are actually of so little use that you're better off with a security camera in most cases as there's a very long delay in your phone notifying you of a caller that they've probably gone by the time you've answered. The Techmoan video really shows how virtually pointless this thing is for most people.
OAP's might find it useful to see who is calling before they answer but how many have wifi and a smartphone I wonder

+1 for the Techmoan review - very fair review

Yup I bought one from cost co a few weeks back and returned it based on the ridiculous delay. I'll just improve the camera on my video entry and/or add a cctv or ip camera

Point was highlighting the poor value for money- you're really paying for the insurance if someone nicks it! The pro version is slightly smaller with the higher resolution which I think is useful, but what with having to pay for the cloud recording etc

The uniqueness is disappearing and the cheapies will turn into viable alternatives.

I can get Alfred too answer the door and deal with everything faster than thing calls my phone. It's definitely no alternative for a regular doorbell and my delivery drivers, God botherers, charity chuggers wouldn't hang around. Only the got the wrong house pizza delivery guys.
