This is such a typical HUKDer post.

Won't accept 720p image quality, but will accept no image at all...prepared to pay for the extra quality, as long as it doesn't actually cost more

Probably best to point out that this is the 720p version and not the superior 1080p Doorbell 2

There’s also quite a big difference in price. But anecdotally speaking I’m connected to a family member who has a Doorbell 2 and I’d say it’s better but not a ‘big difference’ and not worth paying more for. In my opinion.
Great price. Heat added
Great price
720 is naff tho so i wouldn't buy one

Agreed, there is a big difference in price. I guess it depends if it's worth it or not. To some it will be. Personally I would pay the extra for better clarity. Just waiting for the right price.

I've had Ring Doorbell 2 for 2 years with no issues. It's the best out there tbh.
Can anyone confirm if this comes with a sounder, so it rings in the house in addition to the phone alert? Also, I have heard that subscription is required, does anyone know how much this is please?

Subscription is £25 per year. You don’t need to take out subscription but then it means that nothing is saved for you to look back at.

As is your typical post of making no sense!
Why would I buy the inferior 720p when I'm willing to pay more for 1080p?! I'm just not prepared to pay the current price for the doorbell 2. I'm waiting for someone to match or better, a previous deal I missed.
Am I missing something...do people not try and nick these from the front of your house or do you install them very high up looking down?

Ring has insurance against this but they have anti-tamper screws too and it’s going to be fairly obvious where it’s gone when it’s reset and appears at another house.

It’s basically twice the price, and while better, I’d argue that I’m not going to get twice the benefit from it. As far as doorbells go it’s fine - I don’t expect an entire security system, that’s what the other cameras are for.
I love mine. I got a chime too. I “chime” whilst out shopping and it helps me keep track of family members in the household. Bought mine for around £72 (+ I got the all important but not needed free Argos £5 voucher). Don’t have subscription but it was really good during the free trial period.

It starts recording on motion, so you will see if someone is approaching your property. It’s a door bell so it needs to be within reach, otherwise no one can use it!

I’m not the brightest I think I’ll pass but nice price heat given! Thanks
Or you could buy this 1080P version with a sounder for just £41.02

tomtop.com/p-s…tml

It's no better than the Ring2 / pro, but it doesn't seem any worse either. It takes both batteries and corded power, and has a micro SD card slot so you don't have to pay a subscription.

There's a PIR sensor to tell you if anyone approaches the door before they ring the bell, and a smartphone app too.
Nice. Heat 🔥
I bought the Ring 1 for a similar price a couple of months ago - very impressed with video quality, and all that it does. Hardwired mine in from day 1 with a plug-in transformer, simple job, and much more cconvienet then having to recharge the battery.

where did you get the transformer from?

on another note, i live on a busy street so does it pick up cars going past or only humans getting close to the door?

By issues I meant 'nuances' really, as opposed to actual faults that prevent proper operation. But I am one of those that doesn't see the extra value in a Ring Doorbell 2 really as we have a pretty complete IP camera setup (Yi outdoor cameras) that capture far better quality footage without a separate subscription that the Ring needs, I'm quite happy using it for live feeds only and I was one of the lucky ones that got it in a price glitch, I don't think I'd have spent £70-80 on it as I've had issues with mine that make it annoying. As others have also said, spending that money and then having to pay for the Chime is a bit cheeky IMO.

This is the transformer i use amazon.co.uk/gp/…TRK

There is distance settings for the motion alerts, it goes through them on set-up and i've never had to adjust mine.
Opened a new account but got this: Sorry, this voucher can’t be used because some of your account info matches an existing Ocado account.

Aren’t these fairly big? I saw a box the other day and it looked massive. Wondering whether it’s just the packaging.
