Waiting for the day when ring gets into a fight with echo and won't tell me when someone's at the door or play any music

But the Chime (which you need) is another 40 quid. I got mine from Very including the Chime for £159

Its much better to have the Ring hardwired, by doing so it’ll charge the battery itself and, there’ll be no need for the chime as it will work with existing transformer/bell.

Appreciate that not everyone will have an existing transformer.

Ring only connects to 2G WiFi, mines a bit hot and miss - there’s always a delay before you get the notification - although, overall I think it’s worth having one.

I’m assuming you mean the 2.4Ghz WI-FI band, rather than the 5Ghz band. A “2G network” is something completely different, and relates to mobile networks.(confused)

You don't necessarily need the chime at all, if you have a echo devices such as the dot/show as you can set themto let you know if the doorbell is rung or if there is motion etc. I have got a chime with mine for £130 but much prefer the announcement from amazon devices
Screw fix with a chime £134. But should have gone for one with wi if extender on chime
poor reception on wi if hard wired Charger another £10 flea bay needed
subscription needed to store video calls
