    Not really needed. You get alerts on your phone and if you have Alexa, you can set it to alert you from there also. The doorbell itself will also produce sound for any ring alerts.

    I found I had to charge mine every 2wks for about 3 hours so had it wired in and no problems since, both are as secure as each other as you secure with screws same on both
