Considering the Mark 5 polo (6R) is just out, probably not...

Polos are 5 stud these days.

Anything inspired by "The Street" should be avoided, unless you like driving round with your foglights on all the time, have neon washers and lexarse lights.

After much searching, I have found that Lexarse lights are something associated with chavs (The Subaru connection I saw confirmed this). But what exactly are they?

Great, chavtastic!

Well you're both sort of correct. Officially there's only been five generations of the Polo but each mark (apart from the new mark 5) has had a facelift. So unofficially there has been nine different Polo marks (not including the Fun/Dune/Cross Polo)...

Rubbish poor quality wheels with rubbish tyres which verge on down right dangerous. You'd be bonkers to go near these at any cost. Cheap doesn't = good.

saw these the other day in store.

Ok, now I would never put Nankang tyres on my car but when I was 17......

They surely can't be too bad as they are regulated by british standards and they are sold by a national company. better than part worns! If you are going to go out and drive like an idiot then the best michelins won't compensate for that! Within the tolerances of the speed limits these will be fine

Nankang are made by Yokohama, and personally I think they're great tyres. If they're good enough for my Twin Turbo Subaru (sans Lexarse lights of course), then they're good enough for the kind of cars that are owned by people who think Halfords is cool... :-D

Good deal, but after-market alloys are chavy, you need the car manufacturer's official alloys to look good IMO.

Tell that to someone thats paid over £5000 for a set of split rim BBS LM without tires :w00t:

Nankang has nothing to do with yokohama, that's the kind of crap outed by dim witted tyre fitters. There's no british regulation for grip or wet weather performance. As for driving within perscribed limits, that's all fair and well but kind of goes out of the window when you need to brake sharply due to the actions of someone else or a pedestrian. They probably felt fine in a big grippy four wheel drive car. Decent tyres would have felt better

Just look at the independent reviews

nowt wrong with nankangs i'v ran 225-30-20's on my passat for the last year on genuine 20" audi A8 wheels there great budget tyres
personally i wouldn;t run these wheels theres not many cheap aftermarket wheels worth having nowadays and replica wheels are dangerous there such poor quality

There's loads of good budget tyres like toyo t1-r or falken fk452, nankangs are just cheap and nasty.

Nankangs aren't the worst, but also not the best. I know what I'd rather have when I'm doing an emergency stop on the motorway.

This seems crazy cheap! I was looking at alloys for my fiat 500 but they were coming in at around £350 with tyres and I still had to buy another spare so about £400. This would save me around £100 and they look quite nice. I'm tempted...

I might go see these between Christmas and New Year my local doesn't have nay but there is availability 4 miles away. Thanks.

I'll admit conti's perform well but there are other premium brands out there that perform as well but will not need replacing at evey 10,000 mile service. They are notoriously soft - I only found this out when wife's brand new Peugeot's tyres were illegal after only 13,000 front and 19,000 rear. Asked around and checked a few forums and it's apparently very common. Now on Pirellis and still going strong on 22,000.

These are for people who like lights on the bottom of their cars and fire coming out of the exhaust pipe.

vroooom....vroooommmm....:viking:

the Tyres are ditchfinders. Avoid at all costs. £250 wouldn't even cover the cost of 2 new decent tyres....

It would for that size, it would almost buy a set of 4 decent tyres.

However, I really can't believe that such poor tyres are still being purchased by people. They are key to road safety.:x

Your writing hints at your ability to discriminate between products, perhaps? Main product strength is that they touch the ground - just.

Just watch your CAR insurence, as adding alloys (and declaring so) often bumps up your premium (and if u dont declare them you insurence is void!)

So, in summary, buy a set of these, instantly reduce the value of your car to everyone except yourself, you will tell your insurance company of course, oh and we'll find you in a ditch very soon.

Car and tyre manufacturers spend millions developing the best metal and rubber for your car and then you put this rubbish on because you think it looks good! It's the people who most need safe cars who seem most inclined to do the opposite. Just look at the fatal accident statistics for 17 - 25 year old drivers.

Auto express recently did a back to back between premium tyres and this kind of stuff - VERY scary! If you have them please don't follow me too close.
