Great game, bargain at this price. There was about 30mins of the game I didn't like with the catapults, but amazing game overall

Is it like unchartered? Never played any of the series
FYI, Feral Interactive are releasing a Linux/Vulkan-version of this game in coming weeks. Performance should (eventually) be superior to that of the Windows edition. If you own this, I believe you also get the Linux version when released.

there are similar elements, but the games are fairly different. TR is not quite open world, but it's not as linear as Uncharted. Though I think if you like Uncharted you'd like Tomb Raider. I'd have to say that Uncharted 4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider are two of my favourite games from the last 5 years.
Currently "out of stock"!. The 20 year celebration edition is on sale at humble bundle if that's what anyone is after (£13 odd)

Linux has many strengths but gaming performance isn't usually one of them. Maybe something has changed since the last time I tried but are there (m)any examples of games actually running better on linux now?

Looking forward to this. I've been sitting with an un-activated copy from a Humble Monthly patiently waiting for the Feral port before activating it. Vulkan just makes it better. I hope they plan on introducing Vulkan to previous ports once they nail the process.

That is still true. However the emergence of Vulkan Graphics has changed the playing field in some ways, as I suggest above. Vulkan / graphics drivers in Linux are progressing at a fairly rapid pace, resulting in a narrowing of the performance gap. For people with older hardware, I expect this game will eventually run better in Linux than on Windows.

On a related note, Linux/Wine with DXVK has created a scenario were Windows games that never supported Vulkan in the first place, can be made to do so - with resultant performance gains. All PCs benefit from the use of Vulkan, but especially weaker systems. From my perspective, Linux is becoming increasingly the go-to platform for eeking out every last drop of gaming performance.

Having said that, a Windows game that supports Vulkan, will currently out-perform the Linux Vulkan version - but the difference seems to close a little with each passing month and new Linux driver release.

Thanks I hadn't heard of DXVK. They seem to be making some rapid progress. They'll have their work cut out for them to surpass native dx11 on nvidia hardware though. Still even if they can get close to the performance that's massive.
