Everything has to be used with caution.
Who knew that sucking could be so lethal 😳

I recall that news article. Wasn't it at a garden party? Tripped and fell on the sword... I mean metal straw. She was so unlucky for it to happen. Maybe ones with hinged sections will be produced?! It could work with increased sucking whilst drinking and the straw would go limp if someone did fall on to it.

Will these get banned on planes... Potential dangerous weapon? As is a rolled up newspaper etc
Before I opened this thread I thought they could be lethal if you fall.
Soft drinks only
Just use a straw made of pasta!

I agree. But can be painful too, when fallen onto it.
A straw made of ice-cream cone wafer stuff. Doubt it will go soggy any quicker than the paper straws. Plus you get to have a mini snack with your drink Should crack if fallen on it.
Surely this is less likely to skewer you as it has a bent bit, I am guessing the straight body is more deadly?
I now refuse to use can openers, scissors, knives, forks, electricity, gas, cars, planes and mobile phones, I am typing this on a plastic typewriter.
