person16

Plain, if you want to use self raising just skip the baking powder.

Alnilam81

We got the Breville one very similar to this at Christmas Been really happy with it, even just using the included recipe book. Make sure you don't over work the mixture, it makes a huge difference. Just and so bring the wet ingredients together with the dry, the mixture should be pretty lumpy.

Weehamish

Was thinking about toasties last night. This or the breville toastie?

I didn't fry the meat first, but I know with certain meats it is recommended to do so. I cooked the pasta separately once the slow cooker had finished cooking.

peakbear

Did you not need to fry some ingredients for the bolognese sauce before puttin in the slow cooker? as well as having to coo the pasta separately?

andrewstevenson2010

fishmaster

So this will just end up in the garage not being used?

Nut82uk

My sister bought me this slow cooker for Christmas as I've always thought of having one. Used it for the first time last weekend to make a spag bol. It's brilliant, it got really hot on the high setting so next time I'll set to low and go slow. It's quite large so I'm not sure how suitable it would be just to make one meal in it at a time, but it will undoubtedly still be more energy efficient than using the oven. With the Spag bol, I made a big batch and decanted the rest and froze them. The timer is a great feature and after the set time has expired the cooker turns itself on a automatic warm up mode. I never experienced any evaporation (as previously mentioned) however I did leave the glass lid on throughout cooking and never took it off as this is apparently a big no, no for slow cooking. Thus far I would highly recommend this cooker (y) 🏻

Twinnings English breakfast all the way! (strong)

spannerzone

No you take it wrong - I manage to brew excellent tea and have never needed a thermometer and I suspect neither has millions of people, possibly billions of people in the history of drinking tea. I boil water, let it sit briefly, pour onto English breakfast tea, brew for 4 or 5 minutes, add milk. Works perfectly for me. Same for coffee, don't pour boiling water but very recently boiled water and no burnt taste. However I have a sneaking suspicion that you're going to give me some advice on where I've been going wrong all these years.....but at least I don't pour water onto teabag, add half a cup of milk, stir for 5 seconds and toss out the bag. Those people do need tea brewing education and are so often seen on TV it makes me nearly thrown my tea strainer at the TV :{

Agree with the above, a good grinder is a must but still wouldn't bother for supermarket coffee. Would check out rave coffee and the pre ground they sell too.. Very good price, 25 percent off first order and about the same price as supermarket coffee anyway. Also the pre ground they sell will be ground with a very high quality grinder. Never used the encore but can get a used eureka mignon for about150 on eBay and that's a fantastic grinder.. The sage smart grinder Pro too.. Altho had both and a used mignon is superior and will last longer. This machine is a no brainer over a pod machine. Will save a fortune with better results even with pre ground.

horsepills

You're right....I overreacted. I apologise

brilly

you have a slightly different model though sam

Pokey

Very similar I'd expect. In the end they're both just a boiler and pump.

Pokey

In fact, I was agreeing with you. It is difficult to get a good espresso grind without a really expensive grinder. But this machine is so forgiving you can make a decent enough espresso with a cheap grinder output. That's the point and it's why your Lavazza works. The Baratza Encore sure is no £30 Delonghi grinder, but it is not at all an expensive model.

They're quite good actually, was given one for free when I took part in a survey they ran. I also have the Activite Sapphire and 40mm Steel HR. These are cheap because they've announced the new Move https://www.withings.com/us/en/withings-move Which is allows customisation. It's a step tracker and also tracks sleep and swimming. Long battery life from a standard watch battery. These were the bottom of the range models and are old, since they had these, Withings were sold to Nokia and then bought back by Withings.
