Thanks OP, mine's arrived (in a relatively huge outer box!) and works well with my non-Roberts device using extension leads on the USB A and 3.5mm plugs.
Yes as long as you USB socket is powered then £10 gadget will do the same, no matter where the aux in and USB is located on the radio. Eg item 143615548382 On eBay. You'll need to search on item number cos HUKD doesn't want to process the link.
I've a little Roberts without Bluetooth and use a car USB FM transmitter when I want to use it like a Bluetooth speaker to play BBC Sounds catchup from a Kindle Fire.
Thank you for posting. I remember thinking of buying this for my brother over a year ago when it was 3-4 times more expensive. (y)
I have had the battery pack on the 93i for a couple of years, no complaints. Using it with Spotify connect, on wifi. Lasts a good few hours (long enough I’ve never been bothered to make a not of how long, anyway!)
cheers - was contemplating upgrading my 93i but thats useful to know (y)
Wonder if anyone can advise. I’m looking at this radio and the Roberts Revival iStream 3. I’m aware of the technical differences between the two but debating with myself which to go for.
I have a couple of Roberts. Some stations are moving to DAB+ only. Well respected brand. I fancy one of those Makita site radios as I already have the batterys in my tools. Has to be DAB+ though. Have some heat. (y)
It's just a few extra stations, all the main stations still come off dab. Think Radio X and a few of the virgin station's are dab+ but that's about it. If dab is not good reception then the few that are available on dab+ will be as bad.
Could you send me a image of how it looks please because I can't seem to get to sit flush, I've tried a few times.
Noted thanks - mine booked for 230-330 delivery slot
Just received mine. You have to make sure the cable is in the right place or you end up with a gap at the front of the speaker. It has taken me a few tries but the front of the speaker and the battery box are flush. :)
Mine is being delivered tomorrow via DPD,very impressed with the delivery considering it was free.
Great radio - fantastic sound. However, cheaper on Amazon at the moment.
Yeh, better to buy Sony or Phillips (lol)
Yes! Forgot to mention Spotify Connect... which is a must for spotify users - you can fling it over to the radio and save battery from bluetooth/spotify app on your phone
Annoyingly wont ship to UK
I got 93i a few years ago. Brilliant bit of kit. I am sure it was around £130 though, so this seems expensive, although you have to factor in the (perhaps un-necessary) clock thing?
Yeh, but like you said.....
Can you even get the R100 now? Looks like it's been discontinued. Not on the Roberts site, John Lewis or Amazon and only a few overpriced ones on ebay as far as I can see.
I have this speaker and I can tell you it's amazing (y) ...I downloaded the ,'UNDOCK APP' from the Google play store and Linked my R1 and smart phone together via wi-fi and now everything works great controlling everything from my mobile including Spotify to all my other music files. As far as I'm aware the only difference between the R1 and R2 is the LCD display, which of course I don't miss because I can see everything that's playing from the UNDOCK APP and the amount of internet radio stations is great, I'm so impressed by the speaker that I'm now considering buying a second one so I have stereo sound (y) (y) (y) (y)
Always been interested in these....but with owning Sonos, echoes and various other bluetooth speakers, I'm trying to make everything uniform.....go the echo route or the more costly Sonos route??? Shame the Sonos Move is so damn expensive!!!!. Good deal for this though... would have definitely bought one if it was the R100 at this price..... Heated up and thanks for posting (y) :)
I find the A1 sound will change a lot depends where you place it. This speaker being bigger the placement doesn’t seem to be as important, but it’s obvious if you have it in a corner of a room the bass will be boosted. I love my A1, and I am always amazed the sound it can produce for its size. The Roberts has two tweeters, a larger bass driver and a bass radiator so it should do a better job. For the money I think this R1 is good value. Okay! Great value. And you can now get the battery pack for £14.99, so no mains cable required. :)
They must have been faulty, my units sound great and as good as my Sonos play 3!
Excellent deals, got the R1,R100 plus battery pack , the sound is very good and not far away from Sonos, also bought the soundbar and S2 from ebay which are also a steal, solid build on all units and sound is terrific.
Returning units - I ordered the R1 and the R100 + battery pack for £149.98. Just set it up and the sound is really disappointing. The case rattles and there is distortion as well as sounding really tinny. I have just sent email to Roberts requesting the units are collected and I am refunded. I also posted the same comment on the other highlighted deal.
How is the sound quality and bass on this speaker compared to, say, the Anker Soundcore Boost?
If you could link two speakers to create a stereo speaker set up without needing a WiFi network I would be all over the 150 deal
A Roberts for £25 is likely to be better build / sound than an equivalent priced supermarket model. A Father’s Day present for the greenhouse / shed / garage perhaps..... A good find MattunderscoreT.
worried it might sound a bit 'tinny'....does anyone have any experience of the sound quality/depth. MG
It was 40.
Tyson fury live on radio 5 this Saturday 10.30pm
I bought two of the S1 speakers and a turntable before Christmas when they were on some silly offer.
I bought this last week and the sound quality is amazing. And it has all the features I wanted - Bluetooth especially. I checked most of the main online retailers, and tech review sites and found the overall feedback to be positive, and I would definitely recommend it so far, especially at half price!
The reviews on Amazon and elsewhere on the interweb are a bit mixed
Yep me too :D
Did anyone get this delivered?
Yeah coudn't see even by going to a small claims solution that you would get any more than your money back and a risk of loosing too. At the end of the day it is a mistake and so long as they refund promptly i dont think it is so bad.
Please do. Mrs AppleGeezer is an associate solicitor, and has advised the opposite. No contract has been made thus meaning no goods are due.
