Trilogy is on offer for £9.99

Paul Verhoeven directs this classic sci-fi action feature starring Peter Weller. Set in the near future, Detroit's soaring crime rate is unsuccessfully policed by a corporation which plans to build a new city. When the new 'enforcement droid' proves unworkable, a murdered cop (Weller) is wired into a computer-controlled titanium body and set to the task at hand. Unimpressed, 'Robocop' seeks vengeance on all sides in this violent but often funny tale.

Is this the uncut version or is that only the cretian edition? If you have not seen the uncut version - try it. It only has two main bits, the bits with the shotguns and the mutated man - rather extreme and you can see why they got cut, but it adds to the 1980s film feel!

Two yes, three no -the best line in it is an anvil dropped on my head which must have happened to the people financing Frank Miller to write a script aimed at a younger audience.

Three kind of goes with the less than average tv series but the decentish short mini series goes okay with one and two (if you can over come robocop being 5ft tall). Can't really remember the cartoon.
Would it be worthwhile getting this instead of the Arrow release? Big difference in price and I doubt the quality could be much better than this one.

I have the Arrow release and it is fantastic. It looks great, loads of features etc. For me, it’s worth the extra.

Haha, yes the TV mini series. Could not believe the guy they got to play Murphy. I’m a shorta*se and I’m still taller than him.
You have 20 seconds to click this link

This release and the Arrow release both use the same master so they look identical. Only differences are the extras.

Is this the full uncut version
Can you fly Bobby?
Dead or alive, you are coming with me.
Yeah, I remember this. Potentially could have been a massive franchise success, maybe even above terminator, but the really f'd things so bad after the first one. Literally, someone must have sat there and said how do we screw this up so bad and then decided on the worst possible set of sequels.
Then they said, "how does w screw up it more... mmm... let's make a really bad set to episodes with lame ass acting and poorly written scripts"
The new remake, well that was a kick in the teath.
Sorry guys, I feel like someone ruined my childhood with this franchise.

Totally agree with everything you said. The first Robocop blew my mind. It was like nothing i'd seen before at the time in every aspect. Like the when I first saw Star Wars & The Terminator. Amazing time to be alive.
Managed to get a copy from eBay for £1.20 (+£2.45) delivery. This is still a great deal tho
Robocop is one of the 'big five' of my childhood, along with Terminator, Die Hard, Aliens and Predator. Sure there are other great action films (Commando, Lethal Weapon, etc etc) but those five are just perfect, eternally rewatchable and ever-quotable films. Modern actioners aren't even in the same ballpark.

The extras on the Arrow release are really worth it over this one though, there's some great stuff, particularly the two guys assigned to do the 'robovision' shots, after all the principle photography with Peter Well had been shot, and seeing ED-209 being designed and built in various model sizes. There's something so warm and nostalgic about practical special-effects stuff.

The more recent Escape From New York and Running Man releases with loads of extras are similar in that respect.
