Why is it "collectors edition"? What you get?

Included in the Nintendo Switch Collector's Edition you'll get the Supersonic Fury DLC Pack, Revenge of the Battle-Cars DLC Pack, Chaos Run DLC Pack, Aftershock DLC Car, Marauder DLC Car, Esper DLC Car, Masamune DLC Car, customisation items inspired by DC Comics' The Flash and an art print.

Most importantly though your getting a cart and case

I wonder how much these poor game studio have to pony up to Nintendo to produce the cartridges? Assuming Nintendo have the rights on production.

I'm fairly sure all the games on all systems are controlled in pressing/manufacturing, not just Nintendo.

If you mean the flash premium over disc, then yes, it's not cheap like a Blu Ray as the cards are 2/4/8/16/32/64 GB etc and are more expensive as size increases.

Hence some games having a smaller cart and requiring download content to the Switch to work.

I'm thinking of getting a switch soon, is it common for games to cost twice as much as they do on other platforms?

Some might say that is a myth conjured up by other brand console gamers. You also get to play the physical games via a cart. No faffy CD loading, or scratches/finger prints/dust impacting your gaming. The carts are of course also tiny, they are extremely portable (portability being a key part that draws many to the Switch).

I'm not quite sure how some might say that fact is a myth!

How about you evidence this claimed "fact" with some like for like examples to prove your point? How about you give us say 3 examples, before you go back to your XB deal threads?

It's safe to say from looking that Switch games in general are keeping a fairly high price. We all know the first party games will forever be expensive (although impressive too) but I'm sure we'll see plenty of ports with the phrase 'Switch Version' slapped on the end and a marked up price to match. As an owner myself I'll be waiting for deals, buying and focusing on one game at a time and then re-selling whilst it holds value! Might be a good way to go.

Woah someone's overly sensitive
How about you don't tell people to go back to anywhere as if you own the place
It was a genuine observation, and I don't need to provide evidence as you're not my dad, Noahsdad

The prices of the games seem to hold value at the moment and I don't know if it's anything to do with the consoles portability and effectively being a home console and "on the go" system or if it's just because enough people are continually buying the games at top price. I personally love my Switch, just hoping for a slight price drop in mario kart at some stage but I can't see it happening for a long while.

I didn't tell you to go back anywhere, nor am I sensitive, just questioning the apparent fact you claim which I believe to be rather fictatious. Distraction based comments to one side then for now...

You were asked to example your "fact" and you won't (or can't), that's the conclusion we can take away here.

Anyway I have taken the liberty to look into Rocket League XB for you. It is available physical on The Game Collection for £19.95 and £19.99 Amazon UK. That is not quite "twice as much" to quote your earlier comment is it?

And it is not even like for like as the Switch version has many extras, and is also on a cart. And your of course getting a version of the game that is for a premium and portable console. £25.85 is a fairly good price all considered, would you not agree given the benefit of having actual fact now?

And if you're not bothered about the unnecessary extras

hotukdeals.com/dea…855

Regardless of whether these very recent prices are still available today, £25.85 doesn't seem like a very good deal at all by comparison.
So you have a previous one off Amazon price reduction physical copy deal (provide your own time machine), and a previous £9.99 digital deal for the XB version too. Again not like for like either, but lets be gentle with you and just continue to ignore that minor detail or that it has been out on XB for ages.

I am sure Amazon will offer some good reductions on the Switch physical when it has been out for ages on that format also. It has of course been available for Switch for under a tenner digital too. I think I have already made my points well now. I am happy to agree to disagree, £25.85 is not a good price for you, but it is for me.

PS not that is up to me, but you are of course welcome in the Switch deal threads anytime, but if your going to post questionable "fact" expect to be challenged to back it up.

Apparently it's getting a patch to improve things but of course it isn't as good as PS4 or XBOX. But then you can play this version on the train, in the park or on the telly at home.

Yep. I was apprehensive after playing >1000 hours on PC but it plays surprisingly well. The only thing is the resolution dropping quite a lot in 3v3 but they’re aiming for consistent 720p soon.

It’s getting another patch is it? I thought it alreadyhad its major patch back in November/December or something that fixed resolution on handheld and some anti aliasing.

You'll be able to choose between performance or quality mode on switch.

So good. Great on the switch - some little annoying things; no shadows in handheld mode, the FPS of the aerials etc. I’d recommend digital for this every time though little 10 minutes here and there but if you must have the collections edition / physical this is an excellent price!

Yes it is common especially for ports of old games..... you can buy a copy of doom on ps4 and pc and xbox and those 3 combined would still cost less than the switch version which is also the worst version.

If you have a pc / ps4 / xbox then the switch will pretty much only be used for first / third party exclusives or when you have to travel long distances.

Just face it Xbox and PS4 games are cheaper than the switch

Are there even 3 games on the switch? Lolll

But as for 3 games, Skyrim, Disgaea and xenoverse 2.

Not to mention the games run worse!

I’ll play. Doom, Yooka Laylee and Skyrim all available far cheaper on other formats and will run a lot better also.

I have a switch and think it’s a great console but the games are overpriced compared to the other systems.
I won't buy anything for the Switch that's available on the Xbox as well unless it's something specifically for the kids to play like Lego City/Worlds. All the Nintendo releases will get bought, but that's it. I might get Rocket League as a download at some point as it's nearly £10 cheaper than the physical version and I really couldn't care about some different car models

I totally agree. I just disputed that physical Switch games cost twice as much. The let's face it here is if cost is your issue then you should be playing on a PC ahead of ANY console.
I got this launch day digitally for £15 from the Nintendo eshop. Not the collectors edition but I was really pleased with the price as switch stuff is usually inflated in price. I paid £45 for doom for example when it’s a tenner on xb1 etc but playing it portably is epic !

Doesn't look as good as the other console versions, but it's passable.
Paid £11.99 on eshop sale, DLC was £3 a pack, but they're just cosmetics for me.
Got a few cars on the Xbox version and don't use any.
I don't see a deal tbh.
Not voting though, I'm sure some see value.
What type of game is this is it like Mario kart battle mode?

Driving-football (soccer) I believe. Off road racing merged with Fifa sort of thing perhaps. PS look up the £20 deal @ The Game Collection posted on here today, better deal now I just bought it at the price
