Been this price for a while. Can't go wrong for entry level, but it won't take long for aspiring guitarists to reach the level where improvement requires a better quality alder wood guitar with a maple neck, humbucker pickup etc (something like the Squier Affinity strat range).
We looked at this package & a few others of a similar price but were advised to go for a Squier guitar & a Blackstar amp. Yes it cost more but in the long run we won't need to buy another upgrade for a while. The sound was awesome, it made me want to have a go but NO my son won't let me!

Which Squier did you go for? We went for the Affinity strat HSS pack (http://www.rimmersmusic.co.uk/guitars-c1/electric-guitars-c14/squier-sdsp-affinity-strat-hss-elec-guitar-pack-with-15g-amp-car-p1869). Not the best amp but the pack was only an extra £20 than the guitar on its own
We got the this Squier Strat pmtonline.co.uk/squ…lic along with a Blackstar Amp. Not a package but the music shop did a deal for us including lead, bag, strap, plectrums
Well, I went ahead and ordered myself one as I've been meaning to get back into guitar playing for years. I had a guitar a long time ago, but it was awful to use and I never progressed beyond learning a few chords. This is a LOT better. Really impressed with it so far. Doesn't feel or sound cheap and I'd go so far as to say that the bundled amp is as good as my old Marshall practice amp. I'm sure some of the guitars mentioned above are better, but for £80 including everything you need to get going (only poor quality item is the strap), I'm really pleased with this
It's great for a beginner, especially if not sure if they will carry on playing etc. I'd quite like it for myself to learn on if I can't get my hands on my sons. I fancy that xbox game Rocksmith I think its called
I'm using Rocksmith (on the pc). It's pretty good.
