Hi,

Had an email from Decathalon earlier this week advising £180 off Rockrider 8.0 this Saturday.

Recently on their website it has been £369.99 so was hoping for £189.99 on the offer, but noticed this week that price has gone back upto £449.99. I have called local store to check this and the bike has supposedly always been £449.99, but was on offer at £369.99.

Anyway, bike wise from what I understand, and I'm no expert, this is a good spec bike at circa £400. So at £269.99 it looks a really good spec for price. Also meant to slightly better spec than the recent Merida Matts 20d deal that has been around.

Great price for a very good bike
How does this compare to the Merida Matt bike that was on offer for similar money? (the 40D)

Had this email last week. Someone has linked it:

Says £180 off Rockrider 8.0 this Saturday 04/08. Price online is £449.99, so this would make the bike £269.99. I also called local store to confirm this, as on website earlier this week bike was only £369.99. But they said this was a promotion that was ending this week.

Not sure about the 40D. I believe that the Rockrider is similar spec, but has a fork than the 20d that was recently on offer.
My mate has this bike.

I took it for a ride around llandegla the other day and it was a very comfortable and stable ride.

Much better then my GT avalance 2011.

If they honour that, it's an incredible deal. If I ever went MTBing, I'd buy it.

QUESTION: Is the offer in-store only, or can the bike be ordered online on Saturday for that price?

The 8.1 is very highly reviewed. This is an excellent deal for MTBers.

Called in at Decathlon today and the 8.0 is a very different bike to the 8.1 It may e a very capable bike but much different components. For eg the 8.0 had b-twin(sp) forks to the 8.1 Rockshocks, different chain-set... the 8.1 had clipless pedles where the 8.0 had standard ones with straps.

Still looked a sound Bike for £270. At the £430 it's listed at in the Stockport store I'd deffo stump up the extra 60 for the 8.1
So is this in-store only or what? My closest store is quite a bit away!

deal now shows online as instore today - doesn't look like it can be bought online at this price though

Just got back from Giltbrook store.

Got there first thing and they were flying out, all gone in about 15 mins.

However, they have central stock so they can order then in for collection later in the week and honoured the price for me.
Hot for the dollar ;-)
i manged to grab the only one left in the NW luckily it was my size small well chuffed

the phone never stopped ringing whilst the assistant was serving me asking if the bike was still in stock

Can't beat Decathlon for high quality bikes, excellent service and long warranty. Our family have two Decathlon bikes at present and I had a FS Rockrider (which I destroyed) racing in MTB events. Knocks the socks off Halfords stuff at the same price.

extra £160 isn't it?
Couldn't get it online as site wouldn't let me order it! Rang my nearest shop, who said they'd all gone, our been reserved by staff, spoke to head office who found one in Stockport for me, put me through and that had gone as well. They were being sold off as end of line as new version is out in next couple of weeks, so well done to anyone who managed to get one! Maybe next time...
Good sound bike well spotted.
I'd have had this like a shot, if my nearest store had been closer than 242 miles away!
I have looking for a new bike for the past couple of months and was set for the 6.3 @ £350 and after some recommendations from the pros at bikeradar i was then going to purchase the 5.3 this coming week @ £300.

Luckily enough someone from there had then told me about the 8.0 deal a few days ago which @ £270 is a steal. Had a panic trying to find out which stores closest to me had a large in stock online/instore and over the phone. non in bolton :(, non in stockport but i had managed to reserve and collect the last one in warrington this morning

this bike is a beaut
