Track additions are not too bad providing you're relatively computer literate.
Getting custom tracks is easy, you basically have to:
a) Buy Cherub Rock from the DLC store
b) Sign up to the customsforge site, download what you want, and copy it into the DLC folder of your steam installation.

The custom stuff is a mixed bag in terms of quality mind. It's generally good for standard guitar game fare (like, there are people who will take the time to do the Clapton, the Guns N' Roses etc. type stuff), but you'll come across some less obvious ones which are pretty lame.

Thanks, gonna give it a go today - I must of spent over £100 on DLC for this on playstation, shame you cant have DLC saved to a rocksmith account! There hasnt been anything worth while for me in months though so I stopped playing, hopefully there will be some custom stuff that will get me back into it!
Do I have to use the official cable for this? I have an apogee jam cable I use already....

There is so much custom stuff. Literally thousands of tracks! I've downloaded loads myself, most of which I've never played X)

Anyone buying don't forget you will need a cable for this to connect your guitar to your pc

Yes.. No.

There are no-cable patches for the game, but they're probably out of date by now and because the game has to hear exactly what it needs to for the notes to be picked up correctly, your mileage will very.

The official cable is well made, and works flawlessly with the game. It also works with the original Rocksmith and on any supported playform (xbox, ps, pc, mac), unfortunately the cable is usually quite expensive for what it is.
If your going down the custom route this is an amazing price, you need to buy one other track for £2.49 but then there is so many other tracks to try out! They arent as good as the official ones from the few I have tried though, not as detailed and seem to not have as much of a learning curve to them and some are a bit full on, but you can still use the riff repeater to slow them down etc. and for me its a better way to learn riffs than reading them from a website. But there is such a huge selection so if youve exhausted all the offical tracks this is a good bonus to have
Last I heard, getting hold of the realtone cable was getting increasingly difficult and expensive, so probably best to do that before you buy the game, just in case!
If i buy this then can you then get the songs imported from the older rocksmith?
Out of curiosity, why do people insist on buying the Cherub Rock song and not any of the others?

The ID tag of the custom DLC is the same as Cherub Rock, so you need to own that so can get the game to read the files with the same ID.

On the playstation you had to already have the old game registered on your account and then pay to get them registered to the 2014 version, think it was about £8 too! Might of changed now though this was when it forst came out. but there are loads of custom ones available if youd prefer to go that way, really easy to set it up

Cracked/custom DLC requires you to have bought at least one piece of DLC legitimately because each track has a different ID, so if you change the ID of a custom track to the ID of one that you already own, Rocksmith will let you play it. Cherub Rock was the first DLC song released (a pre-order) so when custom DLC first became available (which was pretty much immediately) people were more likely to have that than anything else, so the Cherub Rock ID is used for all cracked/custom DLC. You might find someone sharing custom DLC they've made with a different ID, but it's standard practice to use Cherub Rock. If you really didn't want to buy it there's a tool you can use to easily change the ID of all custom tracks to that of another DLC you own, but you'll really save yourself a lot of time just getting the one that everyone else uses!

Wow, you're right, just had a look on Amazon. I paid around £11.99 for the cable a couple of years ago, after getting the game for about £5 on Steam. Now it's £40! Looks like you'd have to get lucky on eBay.

There are a few alternative 1/4" audio to USB cables, but none of them work with Rocksmith. Not sure why, or if there are any cracks/patches to make them work. I tried a regular line-in cable with the no-cable crack once and, in all honestly, it was pretty useless.

not sure if this works? comments are mixed? I already had the cable from when I got the original game on the PS3, always wanted a second to have split screen bass and guitar but it never seemed worth it

Wow you really have to bend over pretty hard to bring in the songs that you already paid for.... Lets hope thats not the case anymore.

found it! still 7.99

you get a lot of tracks tho, I mean if you don't already have the original I think it's about 6 on eBay so 14 for all that content is pretty good if you don't wanna go down the custom route! it's a pretty great track list, I think 2 or 3 don't export though due to copyright issues?

I'd do it all over again if hadn't spent so much on the PlayStation getting all the dlc tracks previously!! awesome when you have a big collection to choose from
