I have it for the 360 and for a novice like me it was a great introduction to the guitar.

I have a PS4 but I don't think it's worth me upgrading, although it is a good price.

Heated op.

Was just wondering how true their statement is about the learning bit? Is it true or it's just one of those games that asks you to press the buttons randomly?

Real guitars dont have buttons.

No it definitely helps, no buttons involved

this is a great game if you want to learn lead guitar - not great for learning acoustic guitar though.

its crazy how it's kept its price so high for ps4, desperate to upgrade from ps3 but can't justify paying that much for the same game. Great if you don't have it tho

I've been playing it for a while on ps3 but it freezes often so I'm upgrading to ps4. It really encourages you to learn and master songs and it always pushes you to the next level. Good variety of songs and dlc as well so you are exposed to different playing stylrs. I find that it's really good practice for your fingers which is the hard part of playing guitar. The only thing it doesn't help is reading music but that shouldn't feel so hard after you can play the guitar.

You need a real guitar to play the game. Instead of plugging the guitar into an amp you use the real tone cable to plug it into your console or PC.

Basically what string you play is represented by six colour strings on the screen. You have a load of songs, lesson and games that help you learn. Like most things you get out of it what you put in.

Ps4 version - major lag, very difficult to enjoy. Ps3 version - there is a way around the lag, still doesn't entirely eliminate it! I actually started with Ps4 version and downgraded..

I will be returning mine if thats the case. I'm reading mixed reviews though so it was hard to decide. Maybe it depends on the tv? Does your tv have a game mode? Did you try changing the latency settings in game? Some people also report good results with optical out instead of hdmi, but I can't be bothered with that personally.

ive never had any lag on ps3...

tempted, i still have the cable from my older version, i presume that still works and could sell the new one on?

Neither have I. The only issue I'm having with mine is the red string not always working correctly and the game thinks I'm in the wrong fret but that should be a fault with my guitar/string (like the string slipping out of tune or something). At first around the start of the song it's fine but when it comes around half way, that's when it starts to go wrong.

Yes it still works. i'm using the cable from from the original Rocksmith

The guitarcade games on this are really good for learning strings and frets.

That was his point

Gotta pick this up when cash allows. Typical I'm always seeing these deals when I'm broke, been after this so long!

can anyone recommend a good starter guitar to go with this?

Don't think it comes with a real guitar that's why I asked.

Steady on guys I dont think he was trolling, probably could have been said a little nicer but hey ho, its sunday after all.
I loved this on 360 and I have it on xbone but im scared of this whole lag thingyo. I agree, cba using external out etc, just want the lag to get lost.

As for a starter guitar I got the yamaha pacifica for £99.99 a few years ago in an amazon black friday sale with amp etc etc, that gets a lot of love from people saying its a nice starter

johnlewis.com/yam…yes

I got that in red in 2012 from amazon, and yes I know there isnt a time machine but perhaps they might come back, they have the black pack for £170 so keep your eye out

Have to agree with this. In the sub-£200 range the Pacifica is probably the best available. You can pick it up without all the crap (ie just the guitar) for around £130-140 usually.

I can confirm I also get lag on the ps4 even using the optical workaround. It really ruined my enjoyment of the game. Thankfully the cable came into good use when I got the steam offer on my pc a couple of months ago. It is far better and instantly felt some satisfaction whilst playing. Really helped me to master some disturbed and BFMV songs which I was not able to do from tabs as it didn't force me to push myself.

I get lag on xbox one through a receiver to the point that it's unplayable when you get to anything more than beginner techniques. The only way to get around it is to attach a pair of separate speakers to the xo with an optical cable, which I don't want to do. If ps4 is the same and you use a home cinema system, I'd say avoid.

I have both rocksmith on the 360. I enjoyed them back in the day although I knew most of the songs anyway. I prefer tablature as it's Wat I taught myself on. Anyway I upgraded my HD ready 32 inch TV to a larger model and as soon as I did it rendered both these games unplayable as the sound lag became a nightmare even with a manual sound delay it didn't help

I was thinking of upgrading but with there being no difference and the case of lag still being present I decided against.

I'm hoping that a new rocksmith will be out soon as I will get that and fix the lag myself

Just be a bit careful which Pacifica you get. The basic 012 model is entry level and imho not that great.

I would go for the 112 (or above).

Buy a guitar and use Marty Schwartz on youtube, never looked back since. Learn at your own pace and what you want to learn

Justinguitar.com is the best online tutor I've seen, highly recommended

Check out lick library too, Danny Gill is a great tutor too.

Stuck this in my basket this morning and just gone back to it, showing as £35.99 now. Showing as back in stock 13th Nov as well though. I'm tempted. I still have a sealed Ps3 copy laying around
