Looks like Amazon are partnered with Microsoft to offer a FREE HP Mixed Reality headset with selected gaming laptop

It seems the MR headset discount is applied at the checkout, but following this link essentially means you can get a i7-7700HQ, GTX 1070 8GB ROG Laptop with MR Headset for £1,349.99 which is an absolute steal

Although it's showing as out of stock, seems like you can still back order this.

It's a £349 discount, so should bring it down to £1,300.05

1295.05 at checkout with prime, if only it was still in stock.

They should be giving that headset away with cornflakes. I bought it in the sales (even though it's still £299) it's not been the best experience!

Got one also, cancelled the previous GL502 order as this one with the VR is 100 pounds cheaper :). Good spot THX

Ryzen 5 2500U 15W cpu almost beaten 7700HQ 45W cpu in single thread benchmark. I think it’ll beat 7700HQ in multithreaded benchmark if it’s not limit to 15W.

Really want to see Ryzen powered Asus gaming notebooks with nVidia GPU.

So glad I read this. Just bought a rift and was worried I wasted £50 when I saw the HP deal.

i went with this one, amazon.co.uk/MSI…h=1

although its currently showing out of stock. Was £1350 with the mixed reality headset.

I sent my HP back after i compared it to my Samsung S6 GearVR, the picture in the HP looked dull and lifeless compared to the S6, i was more than happy when i got the Rift. The problem with the Mixed Reality is they are too cheap and badly designed, yes they have higher resolution but they still don't have a picture anywhere near as good as the oled panels.

I do agree with this, but the laptop here on its own at £1,349 is a cracking price, and when the MR Headset is FOC on top, still seems like a bargain to me

I agree totally and i did vote hot, you can always sell the headset but be quick, listings are growing on ebay.

I would like to know what the battery life would be like in ryzen laptops as I had AMD years ago but they always lacked in this area so usually stuck with them in desktops. That being said I haven't check ryzen vs 8th gen intel as there has been a huge jump.

Granted most people would never actually experience the difference because it all depends on what you use it for.

I'm. Very tempted but the rift has gone back up to £399 now. Will wait till it comes back down again. I had the rift dev kits and was disappointed though.

what if laptop wont be delivered, would amazon charge full price for vr itself?

Why not buy a PlayStation 4 plus dedicated 4K gaming console with oculus
cheaper than this? think these new VR pc’s/laptops are overpriced at the moment will be teething problems, I expect great reductions through 2018.

You probably wouldn't get the VR headset.

Portability I reckon.

Can anyone recommend Asus? As I have bought a laptop but cannot contact customer services from last week, says they have a telephone problem but been going on a whole week. Also when I emailed them I got a stroppy reply saying their gaming laptops have only 12 months warranty yet on Amazon says 2 years manufacturing warranty?

but vr set is in stock surely gonna be shipped before laptop

Ordered this but the laptop is showing "Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate."

Is this common or is it likely to be cancelled & go OOS ?

I've got a £350 Rift bundle waiting for me at Argos if the MR experience proves to be bad. Not sure whether to open it up and compare or not, could probably sell the bundle for £350 ish anyway.

Everyone seems to say that the MR screens are better apart, only one way to tell I guess.

I bought the deal posted the other day and received VR headset yesterday but still waiting on laptop, so yes, they'll ship headset independently. Amazon also split the price so headset wasn't free if they cancel the laptop (think laptop was about £830 and headset was £200ish). I will NOT be pleased if they cancel the laptop as will then need to send VR headset back.

False advertising by Amazon here “save at least £349 on qualifying laptops, click on promotion link takes to lists see a laptop that retails at £750, with the headset they come to £1050 were’s the £349 saving?

It's not false advertising, discount is applied at check out

My mistake so it is, good saving then I guess.

Looks great. I was wondering tho: Is this G-sync 120Hz model or G-sync 60Hz? If it's 120Hz, then this is so very hot indeed!

Its says the display is

  • Display: 15.6 Inches 16:9 LED backlit UHD 3840x2160 60Hz Anti-Glare Panel with 72 percent NTSC with G-Sync ,15.6 Inches 16:9 LED backlit FHD 1920x1080 60Hz Anti-Glare Panel with 72 percent NTSC with G-Sync With WideView Technology

So 60Hz.
Edited by: "haritori" 29th Nov

I believe GL502VS-FY385T is G-sync 60 Hz (with 256gb SSD)
G-sync 120Hz is coupled with 128 GB as in US versions

FYI, one comment in customer review says:

I think it's just the regular 60Hz screen mate. If we get the 120Hz screen then it's a screamer of a deal!

Yes but it's added to your basket as one item. It would mostly likely be allocated stock to this deal unrelated to the stock of the headset.

Looks like a blinding deal to me. £1349 is a very good price for a 1070 laptop plus the MR headset. Besides you can always sell the headset.

Heat from me!

Unless you would prefer 15" stick with the MSI, much nicer build quality.
