Hi,

Does doing this affect any points you have accrued on your UK account?

No. Your UK gold points stay. But you'll get ZAF gold points for these purchases.

I therefore always leave the cheapest game to last and use any gold points before switching back.

Means you utilise them before going back to UK
No - gold points are attached to the store you buy the products on. When you change back, your points should still be there. The points on the SA store will stay on there.

As I genuinely travel round the world a fair amount, how legit is flipping regions often?
There doesn't seem to be a limit on it and I've not heard of anyone getting banned etc, so guess it's ok.

For the most part, you may as well leave your default Account in South Africa, nearly everything works out slightly cheaper on there (if you use a fee-free card) and it still counts as a European account so doesn't really affect you at all. If you stick with one region you can save up more gold points than if you switch around all the time.
Was about to ask about currency fees with a regular Mastercard. Guess it still works out cheaper?

The prices I quoted above were with a standard Barclays debit card. I presume they added fees of some type on there for currency conversion. I guess master card ones will be similar

Think I got charged about 35p on £7 for Steamworld Heist on a Visa card.

And then I discovered it was available on the Wii U and ours is modded...
These are some nice prices. Heat.
I can vouch for Rogue Legacy (but Dead Cells is better).

Most regular cards just have a 2% - 3% fee
But check your specific card as there are a few that charge an additional flat amount eg 50p / £1
Check directly on your banks website or MSE have this checker moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/travel-credit-cards/#checker

Finally getting around to doing this & this message pops up when I change my country to South Africa.

Your Nintendo Account and Nintendo Network ID are linked. Changing the country/region will disable this link.

In order to change your country/region, you must agree to the Nintendo Account Agreement and acknowledge the Nintendo Account Privacy Policy of the country/region you are changing it to.

It's okay to do that, then go back in & change to UK & I'll have my Nintendo Account & Network ID linked again?
