Realise the Now TV Box from Sky which was just £10 delivered (with £back opportunities sometimes) is essentially a Roku 1 with Now TV specific firmware, ie that allows for only around c40 Roku Channels, though all the UK 5 main channels catch-up ones (and requires a free Now TV online a/c).
Though just looked and seemed Now TV have got wise and now bundle it with a paid-for subscription for days/months for one of their otherwise optional subscription channels - ie now have to give them £20 to get one.
Though it did (still does?) allow ONE extra Channel of your choice (out of the perhaps 2000 on a native Roku box) to be installed via a backdoor.

Yes I'm well aware of the now tv box. You can sideload plex but you'll still be missing Netflix/amazon etc. And now tv box is a rebranded roku lt, not 1. Just thought it was a decent deal for a box that plays everything without having to jump through hoops...

Same price at Amazon and Currys

Same price from ebuyer, mine arrived today and I'm using it for my Bedroom TV.

For the record, while UK Roku devices DO give access to Netflix, they DO NOT yet(?) have the 'Amazon Instant Video' channel found on Roku streaming media players in the USA. ;-)

Well said... PLUS, let's not forget the 'Roku 1' is capable of streaming 1080p (i.e. FULL HD) whereas both the 'NowTV Box' and the 'Roku LT' are only suited for upto 720p! So, with 'Roku 1' at this price, why would you even bother with the super-restricted "Roku wannabe" that is the 'NowTV Box' and it's severely lacking channel store which is 1,400+ channels shy of what you can get on Roku devices?! Not forgetting Roku private channels like 'FilmOnTV' which, alone, adds another 600 channels of live streaming entertainment you won't find on the 'NowTV Box' !!

Aside from the aforementioned misinformation RE: 'Roku 1' / 'NowTV Box' comparison, I also feel it's important to clarify that the 'NowTV Box' DOES NOT allow one extra channel "of your choice (out of the perhaps 2000 on a native Roku box)" BECAUSE YOUR CHOICE IS LIMITED to whichever Roku channel(s) that the individual channel developer(s) is/are prepared to offer access to the PKG file for. So, whilst 'PLEX' (for example) is freely available, by far THE MAJORITY OF ROKU CHANNELS ARE NOT AVAILABLE to be side-loaded onto the 'NowTV Box'.

With the 'Roku 1' currently at £29.00 from not only Tesco, but also Very.co.uk and Currys / PC World, there seems little reason NOT to pay that little bit extra for (not only) what is available on genuine Roku devices now PLUS all those (as yet unknown) future Roku channel releases which are unlikely to be added to the 'NowTV Box'. Let's not forget, the 'NowTV Box' had 50 Roku channels at launch (over 18 months ago) and STILL has only 54 now... whereas genuine Roku devices have ADDED around 1,000 channels in that same time-frame, with more being released (almost) every week! Bearing that in mind, it's no wonder that NowTV removed the original statement from their website claiming "...more channels continually being added" when their track record over the last year and a half has proven otherwise! Consequently, my advice would be to choose ANY model of 'Roku' device over the 'NowTV Box' unless you know that, for the foreseeable future, you ONLY want access to 'NowTV' plus CatchUpTV and/or 'PLEX'... because pretty much every other Roku channel (including 'Netflix', 'Google Play Movies & TV', 'Sainsburys Entertainment', and the afore-mentioned 'FilmOnTV' private channel, etc.) is "off-limits" to users of the 'NowTV Box'.

I hope this information has shed some light on the subject for people, as well as correcting the aforementioned misinformation RE: 'Roku 1' / 'NowTV Box'. :-)
