This is the pre-2015 Roku 3 model, great bargain...
RRP: £99.99
Link not working, use this:
amazon.co.uk/Rok…LZV

This is the 5x faster processor model, I really noticed the quick loading and responsiveness when comparing it to my older Roku.

This streams BBC Iplayer, ITV player, 4od, 5 on Demand, then all of the normal stuff, Netflix inc. Plex etc,
NEW streams: Amazon Prime Video too.
It also supports DLNA streaming, so you can play (correctly formatted) stuff off your network.
Finally, it comes with 3 months of the Now TV entertainment pass.

Hope someone finds it useful

Is this better than the Fire TV 4K due to be released on the 5th Oct 2015
If you want UK TV catch-up services then the Roku is the one. If Amazon are your main content provider (instant video) then you'll need a Fire device. Personally I think the Roku is superior because it is less restricted by licencing and has no ulterior motives for restricting content. Amazon, on the other hand, don't play well with other children and should be made to spend some time on the naughty step whilst thinking about their behaviour.
No voice search but otherwise a good deal I think. Anything else the new one offers that this doesn't?

What other channels are available on the Roku? I'm interested in the wrestling ones...I wouldn't use it for catch-up to be honest!

Very difficult to get a difinitive channel list without buying a Roku, Amazon Video is the main channel that's missing
There are many premium content providers as well as free content some: NowTV, Netflix, sainsburys, google play, popcornflix, crackle, youtube, crunchyroll, snagfilms, midnight pulp
International targeted channels too
Plex too

This is the same as the 2015 model minus the voice search, this is the only difference according to reviews I have read
I have a remote without the quick provider access buttons like "Rdio", the 2015 model may have these buttons on it

This helps, most of the American channels have been ported to the UK Roku
Oh, is that an American guide, I couldn't find a UK version?

The NOW TV HD Smart TV Box is most definitely NOT the same as the Roku 3. For one thing, it only does 720p streaming whereas Roku 3 does 1080p.
I have this and it's a brilliant device. Really fast with a very response remote. The picture quality on iPlayer is almost as good as a HD freeveiw box. I would add that I have no experience of other makes, but it works brilliantly.

I have the Roku 3 bought from a previous amazon deal. It is a briliant device especially if you watch a lot of netflix. I found the picture and sound quality from Roku to be better than my PS3 which I used earlier for Netflix.

I know the streaming stick has WWE Network and the Indie Wrestling Channel app. It might have the ICW one, not 100%. There are rumours of the NJPW one going on but I think it unlikely. This will have the same.
So what does this offer over an android box?

That is the NowTV box with limited channels...
It's not the same as the unrestricted 1400+ channel Roku 3
Can u put kodi on it ?

If the Android box has XBMC on it, then the difference is chalk and cheese.
Roku is a streaming platform, apps/channels just work without issue.
XBMC has apps sometimes broken, poorly supported.
If you want to stream, Roku, AppleTV or Amazon stick are the main devices on offer.
I suggest you look at a Youtube review to see how slick and easy the navigation is, and what content is available.
You will see the difference immediately, even with the easy use of the remote.

Kodi is not supported because this is a closed source system, the OS backend is from Roku.
Why would you buy one of these when you could by an android TV box which apparently does everything?

Or am I grossly misunderstanding these devices?

I don't really know what your understanding is of Android vs Roku.
What are your perceived benefits of Android?
I understand Android to be like XBMC, hackable (this is great if this is what you want).

Roku is closed source and streaming orientated, the Roku plugins are managed from their repository, and are reliable, this is why Roku are appealing, they work very well; the OS, hardware work optimally and in harmony.
I have used XBMC type platforms, I found them cumbersome, clumsy. and in BETA,
Roku is simple and a breath of fresh air compared to hackable systems, it just worked every time, no broken plugins, no complicated settings, no complicated remote.

For anyone with these type of questions, test drive one at Currys or similar, you will see what I mean.
The full Roku 3 is worth every penny, I advise against the NowTV box which is restricted in it's functionality.
Not sure why I'd bother with this my smart TV or ps4 do exactly the same?
Plex is brill on the nowtv and the Roku3 m8s, you can do lots with the two of them if you know what you are doing.
Can you change the DNS settings on this box?

Depends what you use it for, Fire TV doesn't have All 4, ITV Player or YouTube.
Ordered to replace my Roku 2 XS as it can be painfully slow at times, especially in iPlayer.

I have a WD TV Live and find it a bit shniz.

I hear of people with Andriod boxes getting every channel available free, even subscription channels like Sky sports for free

You will notice the difference, I replaced my mums and my XS with this model and I really notice the responsiveness, on Plex, Netflix and iPlayer so far.
The plus point is that I can get £35 - £40 each for the XS's

I see now...
Don't want to break HUKD rules here, cannot talk about subscription hacking, but the Roku is 100% unhackable.
Again, Streaming is different to satellite or cable especially when there are just monthly contracts for Netflix & co instead of 12 or 18 month contracts with Sky or Virgin.

Yeah I wouldn't do it myself just posed the question.

My WD TV live works pretty flawlessly with Netflix youtube etc but as far as the streaming to channels for free it kinda sucks.
OK - don't point and laugh....I have the talktalk huawei tv subscription which is okish. I do like the record option though so with the Roku, is there a simple set up where you have the option of recording live tv?*

This is a streaming only box, so no option for recording through the Roku
Sky, Virgin, TalkTalk subscription TV are different technologies and hardware
If you can record or acquire the programs, there are ways to watch the files on the Roku... There are Personal Media Apps on the Roku.
Research is needed on your part to find the best option though. Plex, Mediafire, Dropbox, and local devices are a few.
get a fire tv and side load all the apps you need and get 30 days free prime

Nothing

An android box is cheaper, offers far more versatility and vastly superior specifications

Sold my wdtv last month for £40 and bought an android box for the same amount

Wish I had done it ages ago. Kodi runs Super quick and every film and tv show for free and 3pm footie games look great. Makes the wdtv look ancient

Purchased a roku and a now tv box. Now I have moved back to my android box. I personally find the roku pretty poor. most of the channels are not very good. Android box is the best way forward, thats coming from someone who has actually tried all three
