I got my mum one for Christmas and much to my surprise she can operate this and enjoys Netflix and iPlayer. I have an older version and it’s very handy. They’re not for everyone but I recommend if you want a simple system to compliment freeview or to pop in a non smart tv with USB port

?...theres tons of 4k content for these roku boxes...Netflix and YouTube have almost unlimited hours of films and videos. Theres also Rakuten with tons of 4k films. Even BBC have beamed in 4k.

Dont have a 4k tv yet i have a 100 inch panasonic plasma 11 years old now cannot go back to a small telly now I have experienced World Of Tanks , Star Wars Battlefront II and the Golf on a big one lol truth!
The missus agrees she likes a big un too if i were to even think of downgrading to a 75 inch small telly i would be on NAG LEVEL 9.5 forever - not worth the risk!

To be honest, at that size 4k would be hugely beneficial.

I have both in the back of my living room tv, I only use the Roku for Now tv because the Firestick doesn't support it.
If I could get Now tv on the Firestick the Roku would be back in the box and unused or another option would be if the Roku would allow installing third party apps and iptv maybe the fire stick would go back into the box but at the moment I need both.
If anyone's interested, I tried the Roku channel on this and although there is tons of content, virtually none of it is worth watching. This box is good for watching other subscription channels, though, and the box itself is tiny.

Same here, my reasons exactly for having both. Got a few 3rd party apps on my Fire TV, got a Roku over a Now TV for the convenience of having a device that I can access the major streaming services on, including Sky through Now TV.
£34.90 now
Blake_Scott15/04/2020 19:09

No, But you can access Now TV

Indeed. Exactly as this chap says ^^^. You should get an error message if you try to use Sky Go on any device that relies in HDMI. You should. It's a deliberate limitation.

And accessing NowTV is the best reason for opting for Roku TV over a FireStick. Now TV hardware is all Roku based anyway, but, you have access to far more content/apps via the Roku.

Heat for the deal.
Expired now nearly £35 and premier one £5 cheaper

IPTV possible now
Kodi possible? I'm looking for something to allow my TV in the kitchen (with no aerial) to get freeview via my Tvheadend server. Kodi being the easiest I assume.
I have one of the 4K boxes that i got in Asda for £3 (I only bought as it was the last one marked up at £20, but scanned at £3 !)

Anyway, i prefer it to the Firestick - its definitely a lot faster and more simple to use. Pity they didn't have any more in stock !
back to £29
