Mine just arrived by courier, didn't expect it as no dispatch email or contact from rakuten. Hopefully everyone else's will be on the way as well!

Brilliant. Grabbed one of these for a bedroom TV a couple of months ago and it's been amazing. Was looking for another one to replace the Nvidia Shield for the main TV in the house so this is perfect timing
Bought movies for free and they suddenly disappeared. Shame on you Rakuten...
I have the Roku LT, would this be much of an upgrade?

If that was the Metcalfe's popcorn glitch, I didn't expect that to be honoured anyway. Why would it be, it would cost Metcalfe's £1000s?! If Metcalfe's didn't pay, Rakuten wouldn't give £1000s of films away completely free, especially since each account got £12.50 credit.

Nice! I used to have a Roku Streaming Stick+ and it didn't work well with my TV, but now I bought this on an impulse purchase. I guess I can always cancel!
Are these used to maybe turn a bog standard TV into a smart TV? Or are they better than that?

Heat from me as always with a Jamie015 deal

Yeah, these are like a Fire Stick, but better. Can access all the apps in one place, usually different boxes always lack 1 service but Roku has them all.

Thanks for the heat, I feel privileged!

Can you stream now tv through these?
What sort of free viewing can be watched on this or does everything need to be paid for?
Nice spot @jamie015 - Heat added

THis is still missing 1 service - No Disney Life support on Roku apparently.
Just so everyone knows this is a very basic version of the roku.

A roku streaming stick is better than this though for a little bit extra.

This doesnt have dual band wifi or any fancy stuff.

Still hot for the price though.
Good deal, but a very restricted movie list. Only recent film worth seeing is A Quiet Place

Yes, loads better. We replaced an LT with this and found this to be a lot quicker when browsing etc.

I'd say it still is. This is much more responsive than most TV OSes I've seen and as a previous commenter said, it has a really wide app selection

I don't know if it does catchup TV outside of iPlayer but I don't have a TV license anyway so it's stuff I'd never think to check
Review of the stick on offer: trustedreviews.com/rev…017
They're being super picky with the "lag" comment. The only thing I've used that's quicker is the Shield, a much higher power (and much more expensive) system
I can't buy, 2 different cards refused?
Went for this, this express+ is a nice and fast box for the price and has a great selection of apps. Just to note the selection of free rentals is pretty poor, onl about 8 movies and all old. i'd say the standout was The Dark Knight. But great deal for the roku on its own.

How do you watch TV without a TV licence lol

As long as you're not watching live TV (I have no aerial, cable or satellite) or a catchup service (I don't use iPlayer) then you don't need a TV License. I've not watched "TV" since getting Netflix around 4/5 years ago

Can you side-load onto these things...??
Great little plex streamer if you put it in a place you get a strong wifi connection.

Ah, weird, I never knew that. I've fancied trying Taskmaster for a while but avoided it because I thought I couldn't watch without a license. I'll give it a go now though :-D

My now tv box died last night (it won't let me watch live TV!)
I've tried for about the last 10 minutes, anyone else not able to get one?

Kind of. You can use the TV Player app - it's available on this. (Not available on Now TV boxes)

That allows you to stream basic Freeview live at no extra cost. You don't get as many channels as you do with full Freeview (you get about 40). And they are not in HD. But if you want it streamed, out of the box, without an ariel attached, your choices are limited. EPG is non-existent in TV Player. But there are plenty TV Guide apps for phones etc. UKTV Play app also on this. And Now TV as someone already mentioned.

I use exactly this stick in a bedroom TV with no access to an ariel. It does the job. Not sure I'd want it on my living room TV as my main source of Freeview, but it's OK on a secondary TV.

In the living room I use a Now TV box with Freeview.

I find this box runs faster than the Now TV Freeview one.
To be fair, tin cans and string probably run faster than the NowTV smartbox. Woefully slow to turn on and get to menu.

I wish I had waited, nonetheless, its a great piece of kit even for the price even knowing I could have made a further saving.
Ohhh. Ordered this on the 11th at 23.99. Too late to cancel and re-order?
