Is this the same thing I saw in Maplin (when it was still a thing) for £82.99, with no passes or anything?

Roku doesn't come with passes, you are thinking of Now TV perhaps.

Don't know.....did it look the same??! maybe it was the 4k version which is about £50....

I know, but this comes with a film. Has this ever been on the £80 mark or was Maplin just ripping people off? I'm almost certain it's the same thing!

Definitely nowhere near £80, Roku Express is £29.99 RRP. You may be thinking of the Roku 2 box which was around £80

Oh does the 4K version look identical, or very similar? Could've been that, but still a rip-off at £82 if it's £50 elsewhere!

Prices have come down a bit recently - think is £19 at a few retailers e.g. Currys

Still a saving if after the stick as well as a film, heat added

I've never bought anything from Maplin, not because of the prices but because I was told about the policy of my (then local) Maplin store. It was something like "If you leave a negative review of any Maplin service online or elsewhere, we reserve the rights to prosecute you and permanently ban you from all Maplin stores"

No thanks.

I know right, it's such a laugh. Isn't it freedom of speech? So how can you be prosecuted and banned for leaving a bad review if your experience is bad, or an item you buy is poor quality?

They are allowed to refuse to serve anyone I think. Hopefully when Maplin relaunches, the pricing improves!
Can you stream the likes of YouTube, showbox etc from your phone to this does anyone know?

I ordered a Now TV Stick with a 3 months kids pass last night on eBay (from the Curry's eBay store they have) for £3.99 (used a £10 voucher). Got it for the kids pass and probably will just keep the Stick as a spare - I have a Chromecast, and I like it as it connects with my Google Home Mini.
36172192-igtew.jpgBad news if you're planning to sell to CEX - only £3 cash and £4/£6 voucher ?

Yes, a company can refuse service to anyone. I wasn't refused service, or banned but I decided to not shop at Maplin because of the policy (still looked around though)

They're relaunching? First I've heard of that!

Now TV stick I will probably keep. Will be selling everything privately if I do sell, probably on Shpock/Facebook etc.

I doubt anyone would enforce the policy though. Maplin website relaunching: maplin.co.uk

Add your email and you get 10% off when they go live.

I will use the Now TV Stick when I first get it, to see if it's any good lol. I will just keep on using the Chromecast, after I try the Now TV Stick once.

Is Shpock bad like people say it is? I've seen so many "Banned for no reason!" rants.

Cheers. I doubt I'll order from them but I've pre-registered for the 10%.

I have seen one man kicked out by a security guard who mumbled something about a review but I have only seen that on one occasion.

Things have moved forward from that time , my friend. Now there is 4k Apple TV , 4k Chromecast , 4k Amazon stick and 4k Roku .
Can I hide this behind the TV or does it have to be on display for the remote control to work ?

Shpock is pretty good IMO, had no issues tbh. It works better in bigger cities where there are more buyers, same like Facebook.

Is that the app where you meet up with whoever you're selling to? I like the idea but I wouldn't ever do that here, there's loads of rough people in my area and I wouldn't risk it.

Yep, but you can also post (you'll get less money but no fees). Can request payment via bank transfer or PayPal friends which is better IMO.

Seemed like a typical Maplin markup
