Good offer, good for streaming Movies, Netflix, Now TV, Amazon, Catch up and more

Top features:

- Easy to use with immediate set up

- Remote control makes streaming easy

- Roku mobile app connects smartphone to TV

Easy to use

The ROKU Express Smart Streaming Player works anywhere you have a TV and WiFi; just plug it in, and you're good to go. Even if you need to move to a different room because your daughter's friends want to watch a DVD, just take the box to another TV and continue where you left off.

Remote

The included remote gives you easy access to 150,000+ TV programmes and movies via your favourite streaming services. Whether you use Netflix, Amazon Video, or YouTube, you can stream it all through the Roku Express. There are dedicated channel shortcut buttons on the remote, so you can fire up your preferred streaming service with one button.

Roku mobile app

The free app turns your phone or tablet into a multi-purpose remote control. As well as making searching easier, you can avoid waking up the whole house during a late night binge by streaming the audio through your smartphone's headphones. You'll also be able to stream photos, music, and video from your phone to your big screen, so you don't need to squeeze everyone around one device when showing off your holiday snaps.

I love my Roku express, the only thing missing is voice search, oh and the ability to search across all apps Inc iPlayer and 4od rather than just Netflix, Amazon prime etc
How does this compare with Chromecast?
Love my Roku but found the wifi range poor compared to fire stick and nowtv box. Maybe I have a duff one.

Probably my first one was keep randomly crashing but then Argos replaced it never had a problem since January or it can be your WiFi signal not strong enough it uses 2.4ghz
We had the same issue on our roku stick really poor WiFi range had to get rid in the end
Do not buy a Roku to hack like a fire stick they are a nightmare.
I guess these must be much better than the Firesticks as you get Youtube and ow TV on these as well
Currently says “ops, this offer will be back soon!”
I love Roku but people should be aware there's no Spotify app anymore. I'm using Deezer which sux.

If you don't need Spotify or Netflix get a NowTV box for cheaper. If you do, maybe get a Fire Stick (I find the interface too flashy though). If you use Plex like I do then it works like a charm on the Roku. Probably the ultimate option is an Apple TV or some nerd Android thing if you're of that persuasion.

Deezer is brilliant for me, what's your problem with it?

Netflix is coming to Now TV soon as well. I don't see why people need music streaming services on the TV, what's the benefit?

Yeah I could use a bluetooth speaker and cast from the app on my phone but I'm old and set in my ways. At the business end of a bottle of red I like the "convenience" of having everything on the Roku remote. But the Spotify app was bad and the Deezer one is worse. I'm an old John Peel head with a collection of fairly obscure stuff on vinyl. When I try to search for what I like on Deezer then a lot of the time it just throws up more popular artists with similar names, and sometimes it doesn't have the artists I like at all, whereas Spotify did. The "flow" feature is gash too.

I don't use Flow, I like to use my own playlists and I've found every song I've needed on there (though I do tend to listen to popular music as opposed to more obscure songs). I use Google Home to listen to music (just asking Google to play a playlist or song is so easy) but I guess Roku is quite convenient too.

I had Roku in the past but I wasn't impressed because, while most apps were available, they were all outdated and very poor quality (especially the Amazon Prime Video app).

To be honest the main reason I have the Roku is for the Plex app (streaming films from laptop to TV = win). But I also use Youtube, the Iplayer and something to access worldwide internet radio stations, which all work fine for me. I can knock up youtube playlists then play them on the TV through an 80s Technics amp and speakers.

I should probably get into using my mobile more for all this but it was released in 2013 and I've always been a bit of a luddite. Maybe when I upgrade, if it ever dies (it seems indestructible, a first gen Moto G).

The idea of actually IRL speaking to a google home device to play music freaks me out. You kids and your ways.

Now TV has Plex but I've never used it, already have Netflix, Prime Video, sometimes Now TV Cinema Pass and the occasional Rakuten TV Wuntu offer for movies but I don't watch films often.

Google Home is amazing, I strongly recommend that you give it a try. I know someone who would never have bought Home on their own; when I bought it for them and showed them how to use it they loved it!

I thought NowTV effectively banned plex when they stopped sideloading of apps. It was certainly impossible to get Plex for a while. That's why I bought a Roku.

I am curious about Google Home now. Will take a look.

You might be right, I don't use it but I got it ages ago. Roku is a better place to sideload apps for sure, can't do it on Now TV anymore.

Definitely give Google Home a try, if you want to start slowly, first try Google Assistant on any Androids phone over Android Nougat. If it understands you okay and you like it, then get a Home or Home Mini.

Given the VAST majority of content is not only not 4k but won't be for the foreseeable future, I'd say the 1080p Roku's have plenty of legs left in them yet.

You can use phone to control when casting, though I mainly use Google Home. The app has barely any issues for me on Android, it used to have a few bugs but the vast majority have been ironed out.

I don't use the console apps so I wouldn't know about that. Fair input though, I appreciate your opinion!

Main reason I chose Deezer over Spotify in the first place tbh.
Can anyone recommend an alternative to Kodi for streaming TV and films to my TV? Kodi is really slow and annoying, even with a VPN

Plex

Is it a paid or free service and can you get the latest stuff? How does it compare to Kodi?
Jordztar39 m ago

What apps do you use?

Mainly plex as I have my own media server, but it also runs amazon prime and netflix along with most of the freeview stuff.
It is free you can use it to stream media from your pc the streaming works great through your home WiFi network and it's a nice user interface. I believe there are content channels you can add however I used it solely to stream my personal media library from pc to the tv

How much did the server cost you?
Is it possible to sideload an iptv app or am I better off with a firestick?
Jordztar2 h, 12 m ago

I purchased one, I use a Dell T20 I got on here with a qnap NAS box for storage. Overkill for most people!
If you want cheap the firestick and kodi is your best bet, but I don't use kodi.
