It's HD rather than 4K unfortunately. The description is wrong on the B&M site, assuming the box shot is correct, which seems likely at this price.

its a decent unit, installed one a few days ago, most apps are there and its pretty fast. Lass paid £13 for it from TV shopping for contrast. (edited)

This is the HD version,Not the 4k Version

On the plus side itis compatible the the voice remote you can buy, and you can use the App (Android/IOS) to listen to the sound, using headphones or not.

You also can control the unit with the phone, and have direct access to all the apps you have added.

They also work with the NOW TV remotes (Old Type & Voice type) for the voice type, you just need to press the pair button underneath the battery cover.

The App also gives you voice control.

You can also use it to play video files from your NAS or USB (If your system supports it)

I have two of the 4k ones and love them.

Yeah, I went with the 4K ("Streaming stick") for £30 on ebay recently and really like it

What's the app situation on these, can you load / sideload everything easily?
    Conkers816's avatar
If you want to sideload apps you need an android-based OS so you’ll need a Firestick.

Roku OS is very nippy though

Are these Android based can they be jailbroken, rooted and updates stopped and your own apps put on ?
    Conkers816's avatar
No, no, no need, no need and no.

Can I return it to the store if I do not like it or I have to send it back by post?

Bought one in the last B&M deal , wasn't 4K but HD as someone else says and the one pictured is the unit I have. Still not bad for the price. (edited)

Thanks OP. Just looking to use it for youtube, amazon prime and ideally sky go (I assume i'd need to mirror "cast" this if it's even an option) on an old non-HD TV.

So I believe the above is a Roku HD Express, is it worth getting the Roku Streaming Stick? (I see that would give me voice command which may be useful over having to use an onscreen keyboard, and maybe a better wifi connection as my router is a bit of a distance away).

    Thanks

Question. What's the difference between the SE and the "express" version? Both seem to be HD only which is fine, just checking if overly different products or just a rebrand and different colour? Thanks all

Will this be able to play Youtube?
    villageidiotdan's avatar
Yup, it's one of the primary use cases, to bring streaming content like YouTube, Amazon Prime, BBC I player etc onto a "dumb" TV screen (and monitor I guess). You just need to have a USB port on the TV and Internet coverage

Could I watch regional BBC & ITV channels live using this?
    mikeypr's avatar
No, Only the live national streams on BBC IPlayer or ITVX. Etc.
