Couple of quid off the usual £40.

I prefer the Roku to Amazon sticks as I think there interface/UI is awful.

The only stick that provides 4k HDR no frezzes or etc its the Amazon stick.
41664166-DW8Cv.jpgI paid £30 for this, from a deal on here...

It's good, but I really, really would like to able to control volume with it. Trying to work out if I can use a universal remote to tie it in to my soundbar and TV.

The above 'device' I call the entertainment centre...

I don’t know what that means but the Roku Premiere definitely supports HDR.

I'm looking for a smart TV or smart device that will support STEAM in home streaming, ie - playing steam games on my PC - but displaying to a TV or plugged in device somewhere else in the house. Does the Roku support that in any way? Or would it need to be on an Android platform (like I assume firestick is).

think the shield would be the best option as they are built for that!

Nvidia shield for you then. The shieldhhas a feature called gamestream, install it on your pc and stream it from your pc to the shield. Have a search and see what you think!
