be careful. we bought this and was great on wood which hadn't previously been treated but has come off the wood which was previously treated in the rain today!!! reviews online say the same

Awful stuff, treated 13 new fence panels with this stuff (bought from Home+Bargains) - painted during perfect dry weather, goo weather for a good few days... had 1 night of bad weather and vast parts of the paint had come off - lots were speckled where just 1cm dots came off... took pics and sent to Ronseal, they gave me several excuses... Ended up having to buy Cuprinol (darker) and re-do all of the fence panels again! The Cuprinol did the trick! Ronseal did in the end sent out a tub of spray paint and an applicator - will never be used... Ronseal is cheap for a reason.... don't waste your time and money using this stuff to ruin your panels - get Cuprinol!

Its all in the preparation when it comes to painting.

Always had issues with Ronseal wood paint - poor quality - does NOT do what it says on the tin !

Preparation? On fence panels? Apart from getting rid of mould there should go no need.

There's a reason this is for sale in pound stretcher and home bargains

Sounds like you had alot of moisture already locked into the wood.

Seen reviews for this here and there, many complaints.

One coat my @rse. You get what you pay for.

So first layer is fine I guess?

Is it an online deal?

I very much doubt it. the sun had been cracking the flags for weeks, this was the first bad weather for a good few months, extremely bad product - that is all

never had a problem with it. that said I always make a point of painting the fence every year

Moisture sits in the middle of the wood and can stay there through heat waves. It takes a long long time to dry out logs and fences have similer trouble. Also if the wood is water damaged the paint wont adhere to the surface very well both of which sound like your problem and method of application is also a factor if the wood is chiped and flaking then its best to spray it on thinnly in coats. Its not the paints fault its your neglect, never had any trouble with ronseal.

So do I and trust me once you use Cuprinol you will realise how much better it is.Also if your garden is more sheltered it will stay on the fence better.

Heat added X) If used correctly and not slapped on, it should be ok. I paint my fence every year to keep it in good condition Lots of people will get a new fence and not bother to protect it, then they wonder why it doesn't last

It's probably because your garden is not exposed very much so it will stay on longer,as I've said before I paint my fences every year too and if you try both you will notice the difference,I had to revert back to Ronseal last year as I was having trouble finding Cuprinol in Black ,so i'm talking through experience of using both for many years.

If you knew me,you'd know I don't slap paint on anywhere I'm very fussy AND I have block paving so I certainly can't slap paint about as I would ruin my paving

I'm not having a go at you OP but it really is worth spending more on Cuprinol for many people.

as paints are now water based they will easy come off slabs and block paving, much easier if cleaned straight after painting the fence. Painted gate with cuprinol last night and scrub slabs with warm soapy water, this morning slabs are perfect

we are using ronseal fence life just now on our fence in the house we just bought, and it doesn't look like the fence has been touched since it was put up 10 years ago. No problems at all

sadly i agree .spend extra on ronseal ducksback really worth the expense ...

I put cardboard down & a dust sheet X)

How odd, different people seem to be having different experiences with the same product. I've had no problems with it, but I wonder if there has been some inconsistency in the production quality.

Ronseal no longer include this product on their website, its replacement is called one coat fence life. I wonder if it’s the same product with tighter quality control.

I've used this stuff for the last two years and it does the job quite well.

My fence is where the sun shines hot for most of the day. I'm fussy too but i will use anything to protect the fence, even if i have to paint it twice. I've used both types of fence paint and happy with both.

I know it does, but you will always get someone on here who will disagree You have to paint your fence every year to keep it in good condition

Just used this stuff.. should be renamed "Two Coat".Just used a full 9 litre tub on 8 fence panels
