iirc they are £8.99 in home bargains aswell

Bought one of these in HB and got it home only to read really bad reviews on it from Amazon.
I took it back for a refund and got a pump action sprayer instead.

Sprayers are ok if you have perfect fences and nothing in the way (such as pesky plants !) but you'll always get a better (and cheaper) finish with a good old brush !

Hmmmm. you wouldnt recommend one for doing my shed tomorrow then?!

LOL...I just bought one today....Yet to open!

However, now reading these reviews I am having second thoughts!

Buy the way there is an offer at HomeBase on the Ronseal Spray Paints (Buy one get another half price) on all colours!

Tough...;-)

I have one and have a mixed review;

The Good - battery powered; light to use; easy to clean; sprays well with my old rubbish fence paint (no doubt better with Ronseal Onecoat £3.99 at Home Bargains); covers quickly

The Bad: reservoir held on by 4 plastic clips, which are craaaaap; cheap fittings; stops spraying after a bit and fires like a water pistol (but this may be only coz I'm using old paint).

Well worth the money, other powered sprayers are £15 at the cheapest and not necessarily much better.

This sprayer is not very good. Used it last year and got it over the concrete posts. You need to mask every thing up and its quicker with a brush. The big plus is you can get Wickes Fence paint for more than half the price of Ronseal as well. Great deal if it does what it says it does but it doesn't...Forgot to say it gets blocked up all the time as well

Well no matter what you all say I have used one and it was a Godsend.
Sprayed 12 panels in a couple of hours.
Would have taken a couple of days with a brush.
Ok so you do need to protect the concrete panels, but still a massive time saver.

I got of these and used the B&M 'fence paint for sprayers' with it.

The nozzle kept clogging up and had to been cleaned every few minutes.

Wait, £8.99 or £7.99 at Home Bargains? Too much conflicting info!

Started to use one last year, gave up as you have to mask concrete posts ,kick boards etc.. and the paint doesn't penetrate the panels as much as a brush.Much quicker with a decent brush.

there £25 in B&Q

Bought one ot these last year from home bargains.

Save your money its totally pants.....they recommend you use ronseal shed/fence paint with it anything else is a big no no....if you have something thats really watery it will run however thick paint you can forget about as all that will do is clog up the sprayer and waste your time....and this happened once every 30 seconds for me.

Been sitting in the cellar since that day I havent even cleaned it, just not worth the hassle.

I

Our next door neighbour bought one last year. Result, their side looked OK. Our side, greenhouse, patio & furniture, decking, plants and french doors covered in spray this in a light breeze. Half way through we managed to put up plastic sheeting but breeze just lifted spray over the top. So if you use one please think of those on the receiving end. Wait till no wind or it`s blowing away from neighbours you get on with.

Felt really proud after finding a bargain in Home Bargains!, got home and was severely disapointed. With using the official Ronseal paint which too was purchased at HB for a mere £3.99 the item lasted approx 20mins and I mean "20MINS" it was firing everywhere. I dismantled the nozzle and washed it thoroughly to no avail.

Following day back to HB for a full refund. I may have just purchased a faulty machine however after reading the reviews... I wont be buying another!

Have heard the pump sprayers are better??

So what do people recommend? And do the (existing) panels need any kind of preparation? They were treated before they went up a couple of years ago.

Bought one from b&q for £25. Sprayed my fence which is closeboard (featheredge). It took probably a quarter of the time it would have taken using a paint brush. That was the pro. Cons = coverage was poor, really patchy. As someone has said, the spray gets everywhere. My neighbours house was covered, patio doors, slabs, house wall etc. Also the pipe in the bottom of the sprayer doesnt suck up all the paint, so you are left trying to angle the bottom part of the sprayer to make it suck up remainder of paint. Then the next day after I used it, I attempted to use sprayer again to give the fence another coat, but the nozzle was blocked and only spraying a jet of paint. so took it back to b&q for a full refund. So all in all got fence looking better for little effort and cost of paint, but seriously, dont bother with these. Get a decent sprayer instead or use a trusty brush.

The Cuprinol ones are far better

agree 100%. that is why these are probably selling at ridicules price!
i have Cuprinol paid 20 quid for a manual one 2 years a go still going well...
as long as you use cuprinol fence treatment.
you not suppose to use anything else. some people try and save few quids and buy cheap crap and than moan about it..... can't understand!

I have one of these, need to ensure nozzel is kept clean or it will squirt. Otherwise I have found it quite good.

I have just stripped wallpaper off all walls and ceilings in our house and used this to wet the paper for easy removal. Alot better and loads quicker than steaming or using a sponge.
