If it's cheap I'd use it, it's a stain so should be ok on fences I'd imagine.

Deck stain can be used on fencing, the only difference as far as im aware is that decking stain has more wax and varnish in to make it harder so it withstands footfall. Obviously a fence doesn't have people walking on it so doesnt need the high wax level hence the lower price for fence stain.
