They come in 2Kg bags, so I suspect that Lidl are offering 2Kg rather than 5Kg as per the original post.

I can confirm this too.
If anyone wants a photograph of the bag, I can post one :-(

Do you know, this is getting a bit ridiculous lately, the constant bickering about seemingly trivial issues, such as this - where effectively without any basis at all, people are browbeaten and shouted down, and what amounts to being effectively told they are lying by others. It isn't trivial, it is just insidiously wrecking the whole concept of following the entire site. This thread it is non-existent Rooster potatoes, and just this week I have been sniped at for suggesting Lidl have had Cox's apples for 79p per Kg, "it must have been 750g" as if I someone would spend all day dreaming up false Lidl fruit and veg offers!

What is going on! :-(

I wish the more clued-up posters on threads would support the promotion of common sense and stand to the defence of the majority of people who are trying to create a useful interaction on pricing and bargain hunting - the deliberate pushing of misinformation, is spoiling this site, and I don't know what anyone stands to gain by this.

Interesting too, that this is happening AGAIN when it relates to a Lidl post - that is most definitely more than coincidence - some out there seem to have some deep seated problem with the thought that Lidl is often a source of hot deals, although they have usually stopped at voting deals cold, there seems to be a trend now to start denying that they exist!

Maybe in certain stores.

Our still sell them 2kg for £1.50

These are not 5kg bags in Lidl.
They are 2kg.
Saw them last week.
Still a bargain, so voted hot.

Bought a 2kg bag today in Glasgow and it cost £1.50 so it is probably regional/selected stores

Fab they make the best roasties. good find.

nihcaj, I'm confused :?

Are you saying that people should not be questioning the OP, who still maintains that Lidl are selling 5KG bags of these potatoes for 39p? I think it's only natural that people are going to question things like this, because the majority of posts suggest that it's 2KG bags. I know it's only a bag of potatoes(!), but the difference between 2 and 5kg is considerable, and a 5KG bag of good quality potatoes for 39p is bound to create scepticism. I don't advocate sniping, but when false deals are posted all the time I can understand why people get frustrated.

Well, it's gone to 297 degrees at the time of writing this so I don't know what the problem is?

The OP put Lidi not Lidl in the title.
I wonder whether the OP's got confused with the 5kg bag at Aldi?

Actually I think the OP saw a weather balloon, or a freak cloud formation and confused that with a cheap bag of spuds. There's no way a cheap bag of spuds can exist.

Maybe he's confused with 2kg and 5lb or is that wrong i don't know what 2kg is in pounds?

I always use(well most of the time) Roosters for roast and they have only ever come in 1.5kg and 2kg bags.

Also maybe the OP could change the title as they are not £1.39 EVERYWHERE ELSE they are £1 in Somerfield's as i got some yesterday:)

Not just any old potato, markbloke. These are brand-name potatoes. … Not just any old potato, markbloke. These are brand-name potatoes. ;-)Good deal if you can get it.

Brand name potatoes LOL. They all come from the dirt. This is CHEAP.

I love eating brand name potatoes. I get a big mouthful and walk around with my tongue out while wearing my Armani suit just to make people jealous.

Well please remember to PM me next time you're planning on doing that, we clashed terribly last week. I looked quite the fool.

 The person who put this deal on HUKD obviously took the time and effort to let others know of a good deal they have seen - as someone has clearly pointed out, Lidl offers sometimes are regional so why do people get off their high horse if its no available at their local store? Take that up with Lidl!

For the record, i know not the difference between branded potatoes and normal ones but if its any help my local ALDI today has 5kg (YES 5kg, not 2 or 2.5kg) bags of standard spuds for 49p. They held together well when boiled and tasted fine to me if that helps? ;-)

My spuds taste better than Roosters!
Voted Hot for the price but they still taste fowl!!!!! (Roosters - Fowl)
