Rotary Jura men's watch. Earnest Jones are selling this watch at £110 with free delivery. I know there's going to be a debate about the quality of rotary watch at the moment and the fact they are Chinese movements but the fact is you cannot buy this watch (barring eBay) for less than £215 elsewhere (Amazon) and in other places is still £350 ( creative watch company). Good deal imo.

Before any1 pops up with a comment about Swiss made, this watch is a rotary customised Chinese movement, just customised enough to be able to claim it is Swiss made. These isn't a lot online about this movement but if the online rumours are to be believed and this 21 jewelled watch contains a sapphire you are getting a very good watch at a bargain price. Thanks and sorry for the waffle!

Thanks not into watches that much and I'm sure the quality of them is top class but at some of those prices I'd be sniffing round a 2nd hand omega. I posted all that to stop the grumbles before they started lol

Firstly Smartbargains in the US has it for $175 at the moment. this is a chinese movement finished in Switzerland. It does look good, and the finish is fair, but not a real swiss quality movement. You decide!

Firstly $175 dollars transfers into £114 today's rates and secondly I've already told every1 the that it's a chinese movement customised to make it Swiss made

Rotary not the same high quality that they used to be IMO.

Any ideas if that is the case?

They are not Swiss made anymore they all use chinese movements, does that make them low quality? I dunno there's more positive reviews on rotary in general than negative ones. Most watch companies now use Asian parts but so do many electronic companies. The only real way to tell is to own one or speak to some1 that does. I think people now grumble because they charge the same price as when the watches were hand made in Switzerland and are now mass made cheaply in China. Just my opinion on it tho

Stamping "swiss made" on the face of a watch with a modified Chinese movement tells me all I need to know about it. Zero honesty in Rotary any more, as a brand.

Actually Rotary does still make proper "Swiss Made" watches, as well as offering cheaper Asian (I assume Chinese made) made watches which comprises the bulk of their watches. Also if you don't care about automatics or mechanical, Japanese watches are probably a better bet (although Seiko does great automatics, the seiko 5 or Grand Seikos for instance).

Beware however of Rotary's "Established in Switzerland" these are not "Swiss Made" as "Swiss Made" is a legal term and there are a number of hoops to jump through.
