Good price, but think I would struggle to read the time with this face.

This is a nice movement, you can get automatic watches as cheap as 6 quid from china, but the movements flat out stop working. This is a great movement for the money, and rotary are a decent brand, however, only if you can stomach the style of the watch.

ALSO with these deals they just get cheaper every day, seen it with a few other rotary watches, see the graph, it will keep getting cheaper untill they have moved all their stock OR reached their minimum profit price, looking at the curve on 3camels, you can assume it is fairly close to its cheapest price https://charts.camelcamelcamel.com/uk/B01L6ZYTU4/amazon-new.png
For me I would wait for a seiko 5 in a style you like to go on sale, as I just couldn't get on with/read this dial.

Is Rotary one of these previously fairly well reputed watch makers, now owned by some Chinese outfit?

This is the internet!

just bought this , I hope it's similar to the one I had many years ago from Next which was an absolute bargain at £25. I don't like watches that are too big.
Noticed its splash proof which is a bonus

Bingo. Will have a Chinese seagull movement in it and the rather misleading "Est In Swiss" on the face. Rotary do have a Swiss made range called Les Orginales. Guess what? Chinese movements (Cl-888) shipped to Switzerland to be put together so that it qualifies on a cost basis. For £40, not bad but the brand itself has sold its soul.

as said before, and stated on the rotor, japanese movement. Decent one at that for the price.

What a mess

Just got it delivered , first impression is it's a £40 watch no more and no less.
As a personal dislike of big chunky watches this rather 'fatter' then I would have liked but that's a bias as it's still thinner then most .
The leather strap is fine as leather goes , nothing special and nothing derogatory to say about it.
The watch face looks good and can see loads of the inside cogs and links which can also be seen from the back.
I'm not a watch fan, just thought I'd give a novice opinion.

I can't believe my 25 quid watch bought many years ago from Next was absolutely perfect and I've not seen better.

How are people from being this watch, is it keeping good time? I'm finding it speeds up and slows down sometimes when I compare it to the clock on my phone.

Not sure if this Watchuseek comment from Greenred would help? (Though I know your model is the GS00345/02).

So I gave it back, they sent me other one. This one works well. It looks much more expensive than it is. Now it costs around 170 pounds. I got it on ebay for 100 pounds with all boxes, warranties and so on... on the back glass ( the one that touches the skin) it says "made in HK" in very small letters. Even if it's made in China, the built quality is like swiss made and my friends thinks it costs 4 times more. As for time keeping... well it's not quartz so I experience ~1-2min/month alteration, but that's fine with me....

I'm losing about a minute a day at the moment.

I'm no expert in Automatics but that sounds quite a lot. Maybe you might need a replacement.
